List of what you need to do.. everyone add to it

I by no means know it all, but so far i see some crazy ideas about how to lose fat or bulk up. I figured we should throw out some ideas we know are true for those that dont know.

You MUST add cardio atleast 35 mins at your target heart rate atleast 3 days a week to get good results in losing fat.

You MUST burn more than you eat if you want to lose fat.

You MUST learn to choose and follow a diet, without it you are wasting your money.

You MUST research what you are planning on taking, dying or screwing yourself up just isnt the smart thing to do.

You MUST collect everything INCLUDING anti-e's before you take or inject anything.

You MUST include your stats, diet and routine if you expect an intelligent answer to your cycle question.

You MUST put the time and effort in to get the results you want, NOTHING will give you the body of a god if you sit on your ass eating junk food and watching tv 24/7.

    and most importantly

You MUST not believe everything someone tells you, Research it, read about it and research it some more.

    Hope something helps

You MUST drink a shitload of water!

You MUST eat adiquate amounts of Protien, Fats, and Carbs in order to build that desired muscle mass. Don't expect the drugs to do it for you.

You MUST get adiquate rest between w/o's.

I disagree with the 35mins of cardio. I think 20 will suffice.

You MUST have intense workouts. A lack of intensity is always followed by a lack of gains (or losses if cutting).

No way with 20. What I read was a minimum of 40mins. You have to stay on your diet to lose fat. You have to exercise. I have a brother that is 30pds over weight and he thinks that popping Hydroxycut pills three times a day he's going to lose fat without exercising. And eating way too much sugars every day. It will never happen.

after 20 minutes, your body enters a catabolic state. I assure you that with proper diet, one can lose weight doing cardio in 20 minute periods.

Another good rule is don't believe everything you read - Believe what your body tells you.

    Bottom line to this thread.-
You must do what works for you.
If 20min. of cardio works-do it
If 40 min. works- do it
Don't follow someone elses routine and guidleines. Learn from others to structure your own. Thats what part of the fun is.

Not to flame or insult anybody here, but...

You MUST realize that there are no "MUST"s and there are no "NEVER"s!

Everybody is different and everybody's body reacts differently. That is the game, to learn how to manipulate your body to get the results you want.

Not to brag, but I am a damn good personal trainer. My clients all get results if they want them. The final word is up to them. It may take longer for some, but they will get there. I'm not right the first time everytime, but I will figure out what works for everybody.

For example, one of the statements says you must burn more than you eat to lose fat. Not true, this may be true of weight loss, but not for fat. I had a client that hit a plateau for about 6 months. He came to me at 213 lbs at 15% body fat. We added some intensity and variation to his workout, increased his calories and adjusted the breakdown of his diet. After 4 weeks, he was 217 at 13%. He added nearly 8 lbs of muscle and lost 4 lbs of fat, NATURALLY. Now, he trains on his own again, but it has been a few months and he weighs 228 at 13.5%.

Other clients aren't so easy! You just have to remember, there is always more than one right way to do things. treat yourself like a science experiment, and find out what works for you.

nothing i say is a absolute fact but there are simple truths that i believe you have to do.

maybe the word MUST isnt correct. I really should have posted it as a FAQ in progress, or maybe just a collection of tips from everyone.

Im hoping everyone will post things they believe are vital to them getting the results they are seeing, thus helping those that are completely new and arent ready to ask questions.

As far as eating more than i burn,i have yet to lose fat and eat more than i burn daily. but everyone is different i suppose

be honest with yourself - it's very easy to say to yourself "i go to failure on every exercise" or "i maintain a strict diet", and then be surprised when you don't get the results you were hoping for because you don't work as hard as you would like to believe.
