Nicotine, I know you were kidding about this (at least I hope you were), but the Confederacy and the Klan are both entirely the result of Democrats. The Klan was also on the forefront of the "progressive" era, which many liberals like to call themselves today. In fact, Woodrow Wilson reportedly endorsed the Klan and further increased membership by playing the first showing of D.W.Griffith's "Birth of a Nation" in the White House! Of course, Liberals and Progressives both like to forget about their history and would rather place the blame on Republicans. People also like to talk a about how there was a large switch in party domination, but unless you fully understand when and why that switch happened you shouldn't claim that the Democrats of today are the Republicans of the 1860's.

I agree republicans and democrats switched roles a long time ago it is rare to hear someone say that they know about that subject.
