    Finally getting the bike...99 gsx-r 750????

Okay guys, after a few months of debate and looking I think I'm finally going to get a bike tomorrow. It's a 1999 GSXR 750 with 7500 miles on it. Never been laid down or anything, maintenance has been good, etc. It's a buddy of mines bike...he'll let it go for like $4800. Seems like a good price, on a bike that I know is solid. Any last minute opinions?

I've owned a '95 and a '96 gsxr. Both 750s. I loved the new body style when it came out in '96. Awesome bike. Very fast! Own an R1 now. Gotta be careful though. Not so much the guy on the bike, its the other people on the road you gotta look out for. Sounds like a great deal, go for it. Ride safe, bro!

If you can afford the 1000 get it, I wished I had two weeks after I got the 750, just a little bit more Color? mines red, silver, and black. How big are ya? I'm 6' and about 200, and the 750 is pretty good, but with my size, the 1000 would be perfect. If your like 165 and 5'5 stick to the 750.
    later bro

I'm 6'2" 245 right now, but thanks to my little friends I should be in the 255 range and lean in about 12 weeks...Had a yamaha 650 a couple years back...so you think I'll be too big for the 750?

I would definatly get the 1000 if your that big bro, R1's are nice too, but the Gixxer 1000 has been the top bike for the like last 3 years according to cycle world.

Good deal. I was going to say do it until I saw your stats.

Someone your size needs a Harley or a 1000+cc at least.

1000+cc I'd go with the new R1. Can't go wrong with a gixxer though.

Definately go with the 1000 bro. Sounds like your a bigger dude, it'll be nice to have the extra power. I'll tell this though, theres gonna be a world of difference between this bike and your 650. Its gonna be like night and day. This bike is as fast as HELL!! You gotta be careful, it can get away from you REAL easy. Especially if you haven't rode for a little while. Nows the best time to buy because of the off season. See what kind of deal you can get. Good luck.

And whats wrong with a moped ?

    I actually ride an Italian Vespa PX200 scooter!!. Although I've two years short circuit racing some years back on Yamaha TZ250) I still ride, but nothing special these days. I've a Suzuki 600cc Bandit, a real piece of shit. And a Triumph Sprint 900. Bikes I've owned over the years, if I can remember them all were;
    Yamaha RD350YPVS,
    Yamaha RD500YPVS,
    GSXR705
GSX1100M, and an asortment of trail bikes.
I guess the years are taking their toll and I'm looking at more sensible bikes, but hell I won't ride a bike I can't wheelie off the trotle and take through the gears, AND guess what. My knee sliders HAVE touched asphalt!.
Anyway to your GSXR750 I bet a 100 bucks you don't have the expience to really ring it's neck yet, so stick with it awhile. The GSXR1000 is a real beauty, but you'll earn little respect if your not it's master.

Incase you misunderstood me, I was kidding with you buddy.

But in reality I've been riding bikes for 18 years now and absolutely love them. Like I've said I've two years short circuit experience, and I've been a friends spanner man through alot of road racing throughout Ireland, including twice in the Isle Of Man TT.

just bustin ya BJ,, I 6' 245 and had a Katana 750 two years ago and it was plenty of bike.
I've had 3 bikes in my life and IMO you can't beat the GSXR for performance, reliability, looks or price... damn good bikes...
just watch out for those little old blue haired ladies out on I-95...

Just to be a chump I am going to say - SCREW THE CROTCH ROCKETS. If buying a Harley is not an option and one ops for a rice burner - the Valkyrie is a seat on top of a hot engine! Damn she looks fiiiine...

Whatever bike you get, go for the motorcycle rider safety classes . . . Geez, here in the Dallas area, I'm seeing too many guys on crotch rockets do stupid stuff and get killed. Also, check out something called the "Hurt Report" (see
    http://www.magpie.com/nycmoto/hurt.html ), it'll give you good ideas on staying alive . . .
Sure do miss my Valkerie . . . lots of fun rumbling through Arkansas . . .

The proper name for these bikes are not crotch rockets they are sport bikes, and no they are not rice burners - all three of mine where put together by hand in Italy and are all V twins

Well stated. I have an R6, so I guess that would be considered a rice burner though.

Good choice Boots!! My dad has a 998 just like yours, except yellow. I love taking it out (except I've never taken it out of 3rd yet) Its soo fast. I'm trying to convince his to buy me a little 748. We'll see what happens!!
