    The Prince- Niccolo Machiavelli

Have any of you read this book.

I've got several books to choose from for a paper in one of my classes and have had this recomended to me for reading whether I do the paper on it or not.

Wanted to see if any of you have any thoughts on it.

The Prince has to be one of my favorite books. Its a plain language read about the conduct of great men and the principles of a powerful prince. My favorite line in the book is the part about whether its better to be loved or feared...according to Machiavellian philosophy its better to be feared cuz if someone fears you they will be alot less likely to go behind your back. Interestingly enough, this phrase was used by Sonny in "A Bronx Tale."

certainly worthwhile reading. but it is easy to get a distorted view of his full meaning unless you read some of his other books - but he describes "realpolitiks" very well

machiavelli is helpful in life in any group organization, or personal interaction. i'm not saying you should do everything he says, but it helps you to see how a leader isn't always what we think he/she should be, and being 'nice' isn't always the best way to go.

if you're interested, a good follow-up would be '48 laws of power' you can get it from amazon.

i can also write your paper for 300$. guaranteed 'A'.

    JUST KIDDING!!!!!
