Movie: The Girl Next Door
This thing is really bugging me. Saw the movie last night on Netflix, and it's been eating at me since:
The Girl Next Door (2007) - IMDb
two girls go to live with their Aunt Ruth, and one ends up dead. she had been brutally tortured, raped, branded, starved, all orchestrated/performed by her Aunt Ruth, in front of all the neighborhood kids in her basement, and none of the kids told anyone what was going on?!. The girl was 16 when she died, and the movie is based on a true story.
Movie Wiki:
The Girl Next Door (2007 film) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sylvia Likens, the young lady who was tortured/murdered:

So I was tossing and turning last night. And it's still bothering me today. I need to shake this thing.........

I saw this movie TR and felt exactly the same though I thought it was called "An American Horror Story"? What made me the most mad was that there was so many witnesses to what was happening but no one said boo or tried to help. Her parents pretty much abandoned her and were on vacation or at a fair if I remember? It is truly appalling and disturbing. I distinctly remember the movie leaving a long lasting impression on my mind.

Whoops the name of the movie is "An American Crime" I guess there is two movies from 2007 that are based on the true story. Nevertheless it had the same effect on me

There was this girl in Junior High School. Everyone hated her, spit on her, called her names, spitballs, called her bbitch, it was pretty bad. She somehow kept a stiff upper lip, which made people hate her more, as they wanted to see her breakdown somehow. It got so bad that the life sciences teacher, on a day she wasn't there, had a special class meeting and he wanted to know what she had done to make everyone hate her so much. I didn't know what was going on, but found out. Evidently, in other people's opinions, she acted above her social standing, and failed to cow down to the female socie's that wanted to be recognized by her that they were somehow socially superior. And because the jocks followed where the female socies directed, they began calling her names too. and what jocks do, others aspire to do. So the whole school was against her, and all I ever saw her do was smile bravely in the face of adversity.
I hate piss ant bullies of any sort, period.
Even to this day, I have an open threat out on a bloke because his ass is a bully. We have friends in common, and a buddy of mine approached me one time a few years back and said I need to get past this. I told him just as soon as I deliver a proper ass whooping then maybe after we can wipe the slate clean and start again. But until I balance the ledger and he gets his deserved ass whooping, the threat stands.Last edited by Times Roman; 05-15-2013 at 02:07 PM.

Anyone who is a bully imo is a weak sad individual. I've met many of them through my life. They may have gotten the first 12 on the clock but I always make sure I get the second 12 especially when they don't even know it is myself messing with them.
These peiple get a kick off tryong to upset you etc. all I do is generally laugh and let them thibk they are ahead verbally then I will just catch them out with a smart comment leaving dumb founded which is the best way to do it. I've caught a trainer out in the gym a good few times like this he doesn't know what to say to me most of time he tries to be funny bit I let himtalk then one comment and everything he said is completely wiped out in a comment lol

I was a runt and a year younger than anyone else my grade. I WAS that guy in school that carried a chess board everywhere I went. I had it slapped out of my grasp on a number of different occasions. Board on the ground, chessmen flying everywhere, getting kicked and trampled as other kids were walking by. Me on the ground trying to retrieve those pieces....
When I was real young, this kid, I'll call him Johnny R. He and his buddies would pick on me something fierce. Steal my bicycle, throw rocks at me, punch/kick me. Here's the kicker. I went in the army about a month after turning 17. Out of regular duty by 21. During that time, I grew a few inches, and packed on some weight. Johnny R had stopped growing during this time. Was at a Quickstop when I was shortly out of the Army, the local one near the home. I was standing in line, Johnny R right in front of me, smaller and lighter. And of course, I was pretty muscular. He turns around, looks at me, puzzled, then finally recognizes me. I was flashing on all the ass whoopings and humiliations I received he was responsible for. I visualized taking him out in the parking lot and reciprocating the "love" he had shown me all those years ago. So there he is, looking at me, and says, Roman, that you? Man, you sure got big these last few years. Heard you went in the Army? and there he is, with his hand out, wanting to shake hands.
You blokes don't know how badly I wanted to kick his ass.
So when I see bullies picking on people, I'm very empathetic, and know exactly how it feels for that to happen and not having any real way of fighting back.
It seems very natural to me to stick up for these people. And when I see bullies doing their thing, even here on this board, I see red. My pulse rate goes up, and I have to force myself to regulate my breathing, find my pace, and slow my heart rate.
So now you know about one of the skeletons in my closet.
Not pretty, but it is what it is....

Wow, that must have been hard to post man, as I said most people who were the bullies(cool kids) in my school are at nothing or just spounging off their parents.

oh, you remember me telling you that? yep, in the trunk of my 68 charger. was a traveling photographer, and since motel 6 didn't have an inhouse gym, I had to carry my bars and plates where ever I went, then set up in the motel room. People thought I was nuts. I had to do that for 2 years, til I was about 25 or so....
