    Act of terrorism in UK

A sad day in British history for sure.
May the soldier rest in peace

A man reported to be a serving soldier is dead and two people have been shot in Woolwich, south east London, after what Sky sources understand is being treated as a terrorist attack.

Dozens of weapons - including a number of knives - and pools of blood could be seen on the ground, where a man wearing a Help for Heroes T-shirt is said to have been attacked.

By the sounds of the reports they're making, they're going to probably suspend the officer that did the shooting, and he could possibly face charges if he can't prove the threat to life was immediate.

Commander from Metropolitan police even stressed a single officer shot.

Bastards. Wondering what they're doing in that emergency terrorist meeting.

COBRA sounds an amazing meeting to be in but I just heard it stands for
    Cabinet Office Board Room A
Not ninjas and assassins like visions a Cobra meeting conjures up.

It was a female officer that took the shot as one of the assailants was walking towards her with a knife apparently

Hmm... Walking toward her with a knife... Was it raised? I remember doing my weapons training and they were very very specific about Rules of Engagement. In one scenario it only counts as imminent threat when the knife was raised to strike.

Cabinet Office Board Room A... I was expecting super solders and ninjas as well

I understand what your saying about R.O.E but what if he was holding it in a knife fighting grip with blade down protecting the artery in the wrist
Its a crazy world but did she shoot to kill?

Fair point! It's a fine line, we only had basic weapons training, I guess armed response police are better trained to gauge such threat.
It should be shoot to kill though, so she either chose to disobey that, or she needs more practice. The news is saying she fired "a number of shots".

I can categorically state that I would not have stood and watched, filmed or ignored this.

It was a long time before they went to the car to grab the gun. More than long enough to detain these males, hard.
They managed to butcher him, then circle his body, dance and shout before anyone really started to pay attention by the looks of it. I'm disgusted at the public that were there.
If you have the capability to help, then you have the responsibility to help. I guess I could rant for ages. It's just disgusting, it really gets to me, especially being ex-forces.

Agreed. I'm far from a 'hardman' but I just don't understand how anyone can stand and watch that. I can't watch bullying in my club without feeling enough rage to slap the guy. This makes my blood boil.

Sad day indeed. Looks like they just hung around after the attack. And wanted to be shot more then likely to be made a marter.

Exactly. The presence of the gun, and brandishing it around, they wanted the armed response.

What pisses me off more society today would rather film it happening than intervene
    That to me is disgusting
I'm sure that there was a case where somebody was sentenced for filming an attack on a young lad
They were trialled as an accomplice because they didn't hand the footage in to police

damn right!! if any adult stands back and videos an assault they want punished! people get scared and hide or don't help, fair enough not everyone is capable BUT videoing it is sad..........I hate it that our soldiers cant even walk down there own streets without being persecuted! I am deeply saddened by this.

I sure as hell hope not. Prisons tend to have there own penalty system. Especially when it comes to pedophiles. Remember Ian Huntley? I hope these guys are tortured before death.

Yeah I never thought of that it would just turn them into martyrs
It's like we're just so defenceless against these idiots and I have a feeling we will start to see the British population start to fight back by that I mean groups like the EDL and the NF coupled with the BNP will start some sort of vigilante war against all non British persons
