Drinking while living a lfiting lifestyle
How do you guys feel about drinking (conservatively) while living a lifting lifestyle? Heres my situation- I work out 4x a week and cycle maybe 2x a year (I do not drink when on orals) I eat right and drink tons of water, and getting "ripped" is not a concern of mine. Right now I have myself limited to "getting drunk" with the guys to one night a week. But, there are other occasions where I'd like to have a drink or two. What are your thoughts on having a couple drinks during the week? And what are some ways to minimize the damaging effects of alcohol? When I drink I have a huge meal before I go out and when I get home I chug water and have another meal.

What are your goals?
Its pretty hard to go out and tie one on and keep a nice physique. The booze and then the food during a hangover is not grilled chicken with veggies. Usually pizza for me.
I personally went out every weekend when I was in my early 20's and maintained but once I hit 25 it got tougher and tougher until I was fat and choose going out over healthy life style.
Now for me I barely drink because its counter productive to what I want to acheive and I act like an asshole when I drink lol

I avoid it. Doesn't fit my lifestyle choice. I don't condemn it....although I do wonder why someone looking to cycle steroids to go above their natural potential would want to risk limiting their outcomes with alcohol consumption. Just my personal choice not to. What others want to do is their business, but for me, alcohol is counter productive for where I want to get to.

Going out is fine, just limit yourself to a few beers. When I cycle I don't drink. Period. In fact I've been the DD for my friends and gf since about January. I enjoy my physique more than I enjoy blacking out and hating myself the next day...
You can't look great and get super drink all the time. The two are just opposites

i drink 1 glass red organic wine a night and on the weekends (bashful* drink a bottle.... whispers- or 2 of it) and even though i save up my cals for the day for my wine Im just not losing weight so i think the sugars ect in it is nullifying my desired effect. so i guess depending on your goals and priorities you may wanna limit your booze intake or switch to low cal stuff.
I do know that the stronger the alcohol count the higher the cal BUT you drink less the higher the alcohol (in general) so if your a beer drinker, most people will consume more cals than a wine or rum-n-diet coke drinker
...and than there are just priorities. if fitness is your priority than just limiting drinking to hardly ever is probably on point, but if getting lit and letting go is priority than I guess you (and me lol) need to work around it

You should not drink once a week on cycle never mind more than that (Orals or not). There is no great cheat to make that fact anything other than that i.e eating a lot before you go out does nothing for making drinking safer on your liver. It sounds like drinking with the boys is more of your priority that’s fine but you should make it that stop cycling until you are ready to commit safely and do it right why hurt yourself. I drink 1 maybe 2 times a year. I would love to drink more but my body is way more important that’s what I choose. My advise is you should choose to. There are no cheats.

I don't drink. If you don't overdo it it's fine. Drinking a glass of wine nightly is not the same as drinking 4 to 6 beers per night.

By getting drunk I meant like 5 or 6 beers over a 5 hour period hence the quotation marks. Can you explain to me how alcohol is dangerous on cycle if your only using test.?

I guess im having a hard time understanding how going out once a week and having a few beers is going to completely hinder my progress... especially if im being "responsible" about it... I.E. eating a big meal before I go and staying hydrated and eating another meal when I get home. Its not like im skipping meals to go drink.

Responsible, moderation small doses not every weekend and such like that I don't think it is bad. In the long run of a cycle I don't see any damage. The liver will come back after a few beers or a glass or two of wine once or twice a week. Extra stress on your liver yes, but to suffer injury NO. We are a lot that watches our BW so we should see what we do or what is going wrong if anything and then take heed. I said to be responsible in my opening.
I'm ok with that. Addiction is to be considered at any point, us it wisely.
For me, I CANNOT handle a drop so abstinence is my choice and it works for me so far. One (1) year 7-1/2 months clean and I'm good. Be your own man. But remember, stay cool. ...crazy mike

Like Dorian states drinking during the week while training and building muscle tissue will have a negative effect on your weeks worth of training and growth so why even contemplate it. If your not arse about being the best you possibly can be then go ahead but if your motivated and have passion in what you do you wouldn't be even asking this question.

not everyone here wants to be a bodybuilder. if your not going to compete, and understand the negative effects, yes there are negative effects, then enjoy.
I really never worry about my liver while running a test cycle and get drunk. I do however freak over the gains im losing and how im going to drag ass in the gym the next couple days. I no the issues but I do not think taking AAS means you have to live a bodybuilder lifestyle all year round....

Alcohol causes a insulin drip into the bloodstream that lasts week after you put down the drink. It really throws your metabolism for a loop. Even if you don't drink much it will affect the overall outcome of your training. Usually keeping more Bodyfat on the persons and making it much harder to burn fat. Also alcohol will dehydrate the body so if you are on cycle it can cause sever dehydration quickly thus impairing any muscle building capabilites. If you are not into bodybuilding it doesn't matter, but if you are not drinking makes a huge difference! Anyone I workout with that cannot get there Bodyfat down as low as mine is 9 times out of 10 someone who drinks. Now obviously there are some exceptions but for the most part this is true.
