How to remove SPYWARE from KAZAA...

I found this on my computer in a file and I have no idea where it came from...I followed the directions and could not get it to work...anyone have any ideas on this? Here is what the file says:

    _________________________________________

ok guys, it took some searching but I've tried this and it seems to work.
download and run ad-aware from www.cnet.com
    http://download.cnet.com/downloads/0...st-7-2.9496406

tell ad-aware to remove all found items, including cydoor (kazaa requires cydoor to function but we'll take care of that later)

at this point, if you try to run kazaa, it won't open.

now download the cydoor dummy dll file. http://www.cexx.org/dummies.htm

unzip it and copy/paste the cd_clint.dll to your c:\windows\system where the original dll file was located.

    RUN KAZAA!

you should be ad-free and spyware-free. check the bottom left pannel of the kazaa screen were ads normally run. It should be blank.

If you run Ad-ware again, it should find ONLY the cd_clint.dll but it is a dummy file and isn't doing anything.

    Download.com Review
Unless you live at the short end of a 2400 baud modem, by now you know about adware. And you probably also know about Ad-aware, one of the first applications built to scan your system for adware and spyware and remove it. Ad-aware's good reputation is well-justified, but the latest version shows more concentration on the aesthetics and less on functionality. After a four-month period of no reference list update, Ad-aware re-emerged at version 6.0 with a sharp new interface and split into Standard (free), Plus, and Professional versions. This review covers the Standard downloadable version.

Anyway here is the link, works great:

    Hmmm folks...

    - DELETE Kazaa
    - Run AdAware to clean computer from spyware
    - Install Kazaa-Lite (hacked spyware free version)

get K-Lite from www.k-lite.tk (and there are full cleanup instructions on that site)

Merely deleting kazaa (or any spyware infested program is NOT enough to remove the spyware).

Will I lose the programs in my shared folder if I uninstall Kazaa? I pulled them all out to the desktop to be safe, but now I can't find a shared folder to put them in.

    Yep sure

Personally I move almost ALL the files out of my shared directory into another one, depending on what it is...

I have around 25 gigs of mp3 music. They are in various hard drive partitions, classified in directories so I can find 'em

Then programs go into the "warez" directory.

I only keep a handfull of files in the shared directory so I have somehting to offer to other kazaa and k-lite users.

You just need the Kazaa Lite 2.x.x file.

The others are utilities and little tricks to tweak your system, but they are a little more advanced.
