    Derek Poundstone physique

    Anyone else think Derek Poundstone has the best physique for a powerlifter? He literally has my goal physique. What a monster.

    I imagine this would take years of good nutrition and training and many cycles. I hope one day I can achieve this. 341 lbs and abs of fucking steel. If God exists, he looks like Derek Poundstone

    Very impressive to be that lean and a PowerLifter. Power lifters hold this irrational fear of cardio and clean diet. Which is why I loved it for so many years...lol

    I've never gotten over that fear! When I was brand new at all this I training in pretty much a total powerlifting gym. Owned and run by power lifters. I was the only BBer there. Man it was great. Some of the best times I ever had was training powerlifting style with those guys for periods of time. The strength and size gains were just great. I highly recommend it to younger BBers to spend some time on the basic 3 lifts. It'll do nothing but good for you.

    Couldn't agree more, I still squat, bench and deadlift. Although I don't approach
    It with the mentality of lifting the heaviest weights now. I learned from PL that form and repetition is the key to performing the lifts. I really focus on a bit lighter weight with absolutely perfect form on every rep and very slow negatives.

    I hate to say it but I rarely deadlift anymore. Still squat like a nut (or idiot, not sure) which is one of the reasons I slowed down deadlifts. Flat bench, I gave them up a couple years ago.

    I've always been of the impression flat bench with bbell to be deleterious over long-term on RC health.

    What's your take? Dbells makes a great alternative imo.

    Deadlift... love them. Used to hit 300lbs max rep.

    Agreed about the basic 3. I consider myself a PowerBodyBuilder.

    Also if you keep your heavy lifts to once a month, low rep you can have some longevity with heavy training.

    Not bad Biz. Yes, dbells are a good alternative as the path of the bell can be altered slightly to suit your needs.
