    simpsons vs. family guy

who is your favorite tv family? simpsons or family guy? im gonna have to go with family guy because of the random hilarity. my one gripe is that they didn't deal with current events like south park did.

I vote Simpsons. I love the Family Guy but it was too short lived. Simpsons have been going for 13+ years.

Simpsons no doubt. I have to say Family Guy is TRULY hilarious! They come very close, it was some smart ass shit, but they didn't invest enuff I think. Simpsons is just a classsic, it will forever. Only problem is lately, they are losing class. Shows become weird, and sometimes lame, this is due to the fact that they have done EVERYTHING.

Personally I think they need to maybe make a change to the show. I know this is bad, but something like moving them to another house/city, and making them all older, actually growing up. Bart, Lisa entering highschool, Maggie starting to walk and talk. Shit like that.

Futurama is also great and hilarious!

Even thought I am an HUGE Family Guy fan, Simpsons is simple the best. It's not just about Homer being stupid and Lisa being the visionary.

They referenced concepts like "Occam's Razor" and "Tabula Rasa."

They make numerous William Faulkner jokes and references.

There is a lot more deep "stuff" that many people think. That's what makes it great. It appeals to children and intellectuals alike.

Hell, there was a class at my university last year that examined The Simpsons and the Sopranos. RR

simpsons simply because i grew up on it. i know so many episodes by heart, i can quote all the funny parts before they even happen. the simpsons is very sharp and witty at times...i love humor that catches me off guard, i consider it clever.

i've been enjoying the family guy recently because i haven't seen much of it at all. each episode is a laugh riot...=)

oh yeah, my major complain about modern day simpsons is that its too "fake". homer is so dumb he is literally retarded. the show was >much< funnier when homer was subtly stupid/moronic...not when he's so fucking retarded he should be considered handicapped. also, in the modern episodes, there is too much slap stick, like homer getting hurt in stupid ways. thats so fucking stupid, the modern day writers need to be shot.

symatech, you're right, the family guy >really< pushes the envelope...which is awesome...=)

can't remember what else i was gunna say...

I vote Simpsons simply for tenure if anything. Pound for pound FG is funnier, but wasn't around for long enough. Like clock said, the Simpsons has quotability for pretty much any life situation, which is a plus.

They talked about this in an interview once. The reason they keep Bart, Lisa and Maggie the same age is that they don't have to deal with them going to high school, college or whatever.

Many shows go down hill when child actors get older. They can only be cute and funny for so long. It makes sense though, keep the kids the same age and look. RR

They could do a spin-off... the Simpsons, the Next Generation. Grampa is a ghost that appears ever so often. Gray-haired Marge uses a walker, Homer a cane. Maggie is a gum-smacking Goth chick living in a bohemian part of town where she waits on tables at a coffeehouse and skin-pops a little smack in her off-time. Bart gets Otto's old job and Homer's old stool at Moe's and is first to marry, with a Bart Jr and another one on the way. He is also resident manager of the Springfield trailer park. Lisa manages both a mutual fund she formed herself with earnings from her first novel, and an art gallery. She has kids too, but they are all adopted from Ethiopia and Bangladesh, and are all being educated a la Montessori.

    Wooohoo!!!

    From Planet Family Guy!

    Family Guy ? The Movie!

Well, what we suspected ever since the purchase of familyguymovie.com by FOX is true!

?In an exclusive interview with Coming Attractions at Cinescape, FAMILY GUY creator Seth McFarlane told us that the rumor about the possible return of his TV show is about to become a reality. A deal is imminent for McFarlane to continue creating new animated adventures of Quahog's nuttiest, funniest dysfunctional family, the Griffins.?

    Woooo!

Its already a landslide, but I gotta pile on. I love the Simpsons. Clock makes a good point about the loss of subtletly effecting the quality of the humor. But the Simpsons are still funny as Hell. I never really got into the Family Guy much. Not really my style. Oh well.

Even though Family Guy had more over the top, laugh out loud moments, I have to give the overall nod to The Simpsons.

I love them both but the simpsons is like comfort food. Every night I watch Simpsons then King of the Hill, which takes a while to appreciate but once you do it fucking rocks.
