Do you cut the tail and crop the ears on those dogs?

I really would like to get one of these dogs, but for the very reason you mention above, I'm told they age TERRIBLY, as the ability of their hips particularly but overall bone structrure's inability to keep pace with the growth as they get older. Any truth to this?Quote:

I would have to say big dogs are by far the best...i have a st. bernard and she's the sweetest dog in the world. Cute lookin pup abstrack.
that dogs gona be huge.. I have seen alot of mastiffs.. and none of them had any porbelms in there old age...
This is partially true, That is one of the main things you have to look for when selecting this breed. Both of her parents have the health clearances ( hip, thyroid, heart, eyes, ears ). Those health clearances should be followed into when selecting any working breed or large dog. They do live a shorter life cycle like of 8-9 years, not like the mastiff which will push 12-13 years.Quote:

Very cute dog, Ive been meaning to get one. I've read that as long as you dont over feed them when there young you can keep there growth and health problems in check.
Beautiful puppy....I love mastiffs....I dont own one personally ...but I do have a friend that has two neopolitan mastiffs............if i remember right he spends like 150 bucks a month on food...........
Very true. The breeder said to feed her adult dog food so she will grow at a steady pace rather than a big spurt at once.Quote:
