    my mail hacked?

I just opened my ziplip mail. and there was a bunch of mailer-demon and quote bounce back mails. I looked at them i didnt send any of those emails and they were all to people i dont know. All the emails titles were thank you. Anybody know anything about this or what i can do if i have a virus.

It is a virus... you don't have it though. Someone who has your email address has it. the virus sends itself to people in the persons address book but it randomly picks someone in the book to be the sender. Pretty tricky. Dont sweat it.

Very tricky. But listen to this. I keep getting emails and "RETURNED EMAIL : MAILER DAEMON...." on AOL and I don't even know the addy it said it tried sending a message to. Have got a few of the Re: Thank you ones and I don't even recognize those email addys either.

thats because the virus uses spoofed emails using someone's address book to send itself to others. doesn't mean you sent any of those out just means that the server returned the email to you because it thought you sent it.

It was all over the news yesterday and today - the fastest spreading virus - it's not dangerous - but it plants a program on your comp, that allows spammers get your email - so, if you got it - expect to get a bunch of junk mail soon.

Got rid of mine. Scanned and deleted a bunch of files in the cache folder. Tried to restart but damn thing kept looping over and over - wouldn't get past the Win 98 boot up screen. Went ahead and quick formatted and reinstalled everything. Hate having to do it, but it's a good thing I got all the files I'll ever need on a burned CD.

another quick and easy way to do that (if you have only one hard drive) is to partition your hard drive. store all your files on the extended partition and whenever u have to reformat they'll be right there.

already have it partitioned - that's where i keep my porn movies.

i saved a few things there - favorites, my docs, but all the setup / install files are on the cd. i pretty much use the same files for both my computers, so it's easier this way.
