Time To Get Out Of Bouncing....For Good.
What's up bro's,
I'm going to get straight to the point. I've been bouncing in downtown Toronto for awhile now, and I've done almost 90% of all the clubs there is and all the major events. I've recently been offered two new jobs at two of Toronto's hottest night clubs, but today, I decided to turn both offers down. Why? Because it's not worth it.
People think it's cool to be a bouncer, and to be honest, it was...at first. But when you become etched in the system and see how far blood lines run when it comes down to hate and vengeance for the smallest of things, you realize how something little can escalate into something large and not be worth it in anyway...sadly, especially financially.
Last night, I worked at the most fucked up Club (I ain't gonna say which) and all hell broke loose. Myself and Vik (another AR member) ended up scrapping it out 2 on 2 with some fucked dudes, who we roughed the fuck up hardcore, while 10 other bouncers watched, reluctant to help. In a situation like that, it's a extreme eye opener to just how pussy some bouncers are and how in an industry where you're supposed to work to protect eachother first, personal fear and hesitation can make a hard situation even harder. Fuck that if you ask me.
What was the outcome? The 2 dudes we fucked up (who, by the way, pushed us to every possible limit we had with smart comments and physically pushing us) had to be carried out of the club since one guy was knocked out cold and the other guy couldn't breathe (due to a fuckin' headlock on his bitch-ass). Vik ended up with a swollen hand due to the numerous head/face punches he laid down and a cut to his lip which he suffered from the bitch who tried to rake his face with his nails, and I suffered a cut on my face from a punch, a minor bump on my jaw from another punch and cuts around my neck from the same bitch trying to rake my neck with his bitch hands. But they learned their lesson and they became the example beating...no one else in the club bothered to do anything wrong or question what we told them to do.
To sum everything up, with the stabbings, shootings and fights, for anyone just considering to getting into bouncing, think long and hard about what I briefly touched on. We're getting paid the same whether we fight or not, but some people only speak ONE language and that's the fist. It may be a pride issue with you, but what goes around comes around and you don't want to be in the mall with your girl and some dude with his buddies recognizes you as the bouncer who fucked him up. Or worse, be in a club yourself and become recognized. You will have problems. Be ready for the worst and don't expect the best pay on the worst nights...the irony is that on the easiest nights, you'll get the best pay and on the worst, you'll get the shittiest.
Good luck and I think my time in the Club industry is about to come to an end...

That is fucked up bro! Im sorry for you having such pussy´s as co workers! You know you should get vic and kick there asses! Thats what i would do, your a team and should look out for each other. If you could hire your own people you wouldnt have to worry about bouncers not helping you.

It sounds like you're making the right choice in getting out of that job.

I think you are making the right decision... Bouncing is kinda like being in the army... when there's no war it's a gravy job, just do a few small task and draw a paycheck. BUT, if/when war does break out you have to put your ass on the line.
When I was first old enough to go clubbing (years ago) there was a mean SOB in my town that LOVED to fight,,, and his favorite thing to do was sucker punch bouncers... I saw him pancake some poor doormans face one time and that was it for me,,, I knew right then and there I didn't want to bounce. You're setting yourself up as a target for every asshole out there who thinks he's a tuff guy, and not matter HOW good you can fight, there is ALWAYS somebody out there that can kick your ass. And when you DO beat somebody down, whos to say he and his boys aren't going to be hiding around the corner waiting for you to get off work?!
good luck to you bro...

I used to bounce, but after having several guns pulled on me I thought it was time to make a career change as well. Of course here in the states you're not supposed to fist fight, unless defending yourselves. We're taught (god knows how many) holds and pressure points to enable a person from fighting and they worked.... not once did I ever get hit. But I do understand how dangerous the job can be and respect your desicion to move on. Best of luck to ya.

Those idiots that stood around and watched would have been fired on the spot at any club I worked at. Did managment fire them afterwards?
2 on 2 you had a fight...12 on 2 you would have been able to drag their ass's outta there no problem.
That's just fucked up...

Ronny...you're doing the right thing. Getting your head cracking open on the concrete isn't worth the pay.
My personal favourite in the bars is the guy with the "small man syndrome". A 5'5 150 pound guy is always starting the fights b/c he has nothing to lose. He loses a fight "he's a small guy"...he wins a fight "he beat up a guy way bigger than him." I've seen countless small guys take pokes at big bouncers...but the bouncers would look like a-holes if the kicked the crap out of these small guys. I wish bars started hiring big tough females...let them kick the shit out of these small pukes and embarass them in front of the entire crowd. Hahaha!! That would be priceless!! Some therapy for their syndrome!!

I think she had to be the biggest black girl i've ever seen...

Bro, been bouncing for 1 year now at one of the most popular Hip Hop clubs in Montreal, a few weeks ago one of my co-workers (The smallest one) got fired after sending a customer to the hospital. He was the most agressive with nothing to back it up, he was rude and inpatient. He also got charged by the cops.
On the other hand, I can say that I'm totally fed up of my Job, was cool at first, but now I find it's boring...Most of the customers are total loosers, they don't even budge when I try to walk by, they keep on grinding their Ho's and rubbing their swetty arse on me. I try very hard not to snap at them (Specially on Gear). Since I bounce, I no longer enjoy clubbing, I realize how stupid I used to look getting drunk and out of control.
Bottom line is, I can't wait to quit!

With regards to people thinking you have to fuck people up...this goes back to my opinion of working in a club and having no martial arts experience? You are nuts!!! In any given room I would bet $1000 that I can throw out(as in get them off the clubs property) all but a handful of people, without injuring them, or myself. Give me two competent guys to help and now I bet you the three of us could remove nearly anyone from the establishment.
At least many of you guys are smart enough to acknwledge the consequences of fighting. I have worked with people over the years that look at a fight like it's no big deal. Retards!

Ronny if you dont feel comfortable there you are doing the right thing by leaving.
But bouncing isnt that bad of a job if you find the right club to work in. Where im at now the problems are far and few. And we have a good bunch of guys. Honestly i cant wait to the nights i work.If people can't tell your on steroids then your doing them wrong

That particular club I was working for specifically ask for Vic and myself since we're one of the few original bouncers still around that have worked there since it opened up. And in regards to the other 10 so-called 'bouncers' who did piss all to help us out? Yep, they got an earful not only from us, but from all the other bouncers at all the other clubs we work at. They won't be working anywhere anytime soon...bitches.
Turns out I'll be back there this week, but under my own circumstances under a lot of negotiations today with the club owner. I'm handpicking the entire staff rather then just have them assigned, so I hired all the big boys from my gym alongside some UFC style fighters through a friend of mine who trains with Tito Ortiz and Team Punishment. I also hired 3 sets of guard dog patrols to stay in the front of the club where most of the shit began. The type of crowd that this particular club attracts is very, very timid and fearful of dogs...haha, bitches. Myself and Vic also demanded twice the pay for our work. Everything, besides the pay part, has been agreed too and we'll find out about the pay on Wednesday.
But the whole industry sucks ass anyways.

How do you get a job like that, just go to a video company and whip out your moneymaker?
-
07-15-2003, 12:25 AM #20
If I were to whip out my moneymaker, it would take a few days. I'd have to unwind the somma bitch.
But anyways, fighting ain't the point. It's just a dangerous job without the protection or the RIGHT pay....if you can put a price on personal safety.

I work as a bouncer in a large club in Macon Georgia. It is a great place to work, especially on Thursday nights, college night. It is extremely nice for a 36 year old man to have 18 to 23 year old girls rubbing all over him for 6 hours a night. Had one girl try to give me a BJ on the stage one night, I was working the stage, where we let the young ladies dance. A girl was dancing and rubbing against me and I was watching to make sure that they guys stayed off the stage and were being good and the next thing I knew she had my belt undone and undone 2 buttons on my BDU’s. I stopped her and I had to explain to her that we had to go into the back of the club for that.
The club has recently had a big shake up and has a new manager. He has hired 6 new bouncers and 3 of which are simply put, out of shape fat guys. I am curious to see how they handle their first fight.

A few of my firends are bouncers for clubs in LA and Hollywood. They try to get me in and after hearing all of their stories, it makes me wanna be a bouncer. After reading these threads it makes me not wanna be. I guess if I really wanted to be a bouncer, I would have been one by now. I probably only hear about the good stories and they leave out the boring dull ones.

Bouncing gets a bad rap for safety, which IMO it unfairly deseves. Fact of the matter is that if you are willing to go 'downtown' afterhours and hang out in clubs and on the street in that part of town, you do not put personal safety at the top of your gameplan. Period. Amount of time spent being equal, compare going to these places or working at these places, you are definitely safer working at the club than being there as a customer.
How many more times do you see customers getting beats compared to doormen or other staff? Probably 50 to 1. At least that's been my experience. Also the only doormen I've seen get beats were because they were newb's or just made a bad move, like jumping in between people throwing punches when trying to bust up a fight.

I bounced for a while when I lived in New York! Now this goes back a few years but I absolutely Loved that job! We had a killer crew! 10 guys I trusted like brothers and everyone could throw-down when it was needed! We developed such a reputation as "Bouncers you do-not-fuck with" that the job kept getting more enjoyable until this one crazy night:
I had a gun pulled on me one night by some Mob wannabe, that made things interesting. Then this guy came back in a week later with about 6 of his boys looking for me. Well it turns out that the one of the Bar Keeps knew one of the 6 guys and managed to cool it all off before it got too serious! Kinda scary!
I haven't bounced in years, but I miss it at times!
