    Question browser hijacking

hi i have a problem with my internet explorer.

its been hijacked something and keeps on sending me to a website.
for example when i tried to go to yahoo i got this :

    http://www.internet-optimizer.com/He...www.yahoo.com/

now this is really pissing me off can anyone tell me how to get rid off this.

my modem(broadband/cable) is working perfectly with things like kazza, imesh, winmx etc..

i only can get some website like after lots of attempts.

i am lucky that i even got to this site.

Sounds like something has been installed. Check your Add / Remove thing under Control Panel for anything out of the ordinary.

    Check for Internet Optimizer.

Ahhh you got to love SCUMWARE... (stealing and redirecting net addresses)

First thing is to intall Adaware and run it... get rid of all the spyware...

    Then

    2 things to check...

1 - Go into IE's PROXY settings and make sure some proxy server hasn't installed itself...

2 - in your windows directory, check out a file called HOSTS, (no extention). Open it with a text editor (like the notepad)... you'll see a listing of url's and next to them I-P addresses. This is also used to steal and redirect url's.

You can delete most of the lines in the hosts file... it's really meant to force an address to use a specific I-P and most people have no use for it.

Alternatively, you could go to www.kazaalitekpp.com and get their "Hosts" file to replace yours... it's neat trick that redirects a whole bunch of known spammer and scumware url's to 0.0.0.0 (your computers internal garbage can if you will) so they do not appear. Kills a lot of banners and popups.

    My 2 cents worth

also check in the add/remove setting for something like a browser buddy or add on. That is the most typical Then go get spybot that is free and great for things like this. That guy puts a bunch of effort in to this freeware .
