What speed is your Internet Connection

In order for me to decide the best way to make improvements to the site, I realized that knowing what the internet connection speed of the members was important. I have a fast connection so to me adding more things is great, but if you have a slow connection I need to find a way to accomodate you as well.

Please check all that apply. If I leave one out, put it below, I will edit the poll and hope that you will come vote later.

I know some people access more than one computer, so please check all that apply.

Just for the record. I am thinking about creating a new template set that people can select if they have a slower connection speed. It will replace some of the buttons with text in order to make everything faster for you. I will have two separate styles, the current one and one for those with slow connections, and you will be able to choose the one you want to use. I don't know if it is all possible right now, but if there is enough people who use a slower connection I will begin working on it.

You freakin smart azzz.. heee.. well I can't choose more than one can I? So that is why I broke it down for ya not that my speed will have any effect on your decission heee... Just call me the speed/AR junkie from now on..
The point I was really trying to make is I am on this damn board all the time, no matter where I am at. Office, home or somewhere else. So the question I guess was to difficult for me to answer....

Yes, you can choose all of the connections that you use, unless you have already voted and then it is too late. That is why it says "select all that apply" at the top.

    Sincerely,
    The smart azzzz

No problem bro, I just adjusted the results to include your choices.

Ok everyone, learn from our good friend Sicilian's mistakes. Follow the directions carefully.

Get in touch with me when you come in town Sicilian.

29.3456 to the 8th power (what the hell is that)? You using a light speed digital conveyer (from Star Trek) or something Pappa? It sounds fast whatever it is.. Or is that to the negative 8th power?

Ha Wanna, I see the road runner advertising all up around North La. I hear they are pretty good. What kinda of bandwith are ya'll getting up there.. some guys down in NO say they are getting 5 MB per sec. That is fast. However our cable here sux, we only get about 1 mb per sec. which isn't bad either, but there are soo many tweaks out there to get that higher..

Sicilian30, sometime the "total transfer" is up around 4-5 megs per second, but thats what its trying to do. Most servers can't handle that quick of a transfer. Sometimes when I'm dl'ing from a good server, I can get up to 350k per sec

    hehe like my new av?

Ummm 356K is that from downloading from a server? or is that your tested bandwith. Here is the difference if you do a speed test and you are getting 356k that isnt' even close to what a cable is capable of. If you are downloading from a site adn you get that, that is awesome. To give you an example, I test at about 1500Kb sec. I download at 150K. T 1 is about 1.5 MB per sec.

yea that is the actual download speed from the server. 3dgames and zdnet have been the only ones that have been up that high. most others hover anywhere from 40k - 175k

I download at about 128 with cable, but since I live downtown and all the businesses are closed at night, I've hit up to 1.5 MB, not too many people with cable downtown, which is an advantage for me.

Comes in handy for downloading movies.

Not a bad link, but MIRC is a lot better. You can get movies still out in the theatre Such as Lord of the Rings, Ali, and usually any other movie you can think of.

Cable modem baby! And I get it for free too!
The best part is that you can listen to cd quality music streams. I don't even bother listening to the radio. You can find any kind of music stream you like on the net. All that great music you hear in the clubs you can listen to 24/7. It rocks!
