i need some job help, and lets make this a job pole to

ok before i get into all this i don't want to hear that "dude your 22 you have the world by the balls or something like that."
alright up until last friday i thought i had it all figured out with m future and all. I was going to be a cop, i know some of you guys hate cops but i can't help that, all i had left was my psych exam and i was in. turns out i got my results back and i failed they didn't give me an explanation or anything. they said i can get re-evaluated and all but for what, to answer the same questions and have them be like yeah your still not right? they are going to say why did you change your answer to this this time. so i pretty much waisted my time in college unless i want to keep my major and go to school alot longer to be a lawyer, or i can change my major to something else and start fresh. i know i'm not fucked up in the head i mean we all have are moments but wtf! so i can't get federal job because if i can't pass philly's psych test how would the let me in the dea or something like that? what do all you guys do for a living, i think now i want to make alot of money haha, any ideas. i was thinking of going from one end of the spectrum to the next, from good guy to fbi's top 10 for most wanted, i know alot of shady people it won't be that hard. i think i need help because i'm starting not to care anymore.

I would love to be a cop even with my background.

I am friends with a lot of cops actually.

Most of them failed their psychs like 3 or 4 times.

There are like 4 questions you CAN NOT ANSWER wrong.
    The rest are just fillers.

Also. They ask you questions about how you feel towards certain ethnic groups.
They ask if you had sex with animals
They ask if you smoked weed or did drugs. If you did. answer YES to this.

They ask if you ever stole anything. Answer YES to this question. This question is VERY VAGUE. You can steal time from your employer by standing around talking to your friends while on the clock. That is technically stealing cause you should be working. Or you can say you took a pen from someones desk and didnt return it.

How do you feel about black people? They are very religious
How do you feel about hispanics? They are very family orientated.
How do you feel about immigrants? They are very motivated.

The questions are vague as must your answers be.

Find someone who is a cop and ask him about his exam. Ask him how he answered his questions.

YES. If you change your answers they will ask WHY you changed your answers.
But DO NOT let one failure stop you from being a cop. That is weak.

BTW. If you failed the cop exam, you will fail the FBI exam.
Bounty hunter. Im sure you would want to carry a gun. You need to get a permit for that and they dont hand those out like drivers licenses.
The most you could hope for is security guard with permit to be armed but they pay like 14 dollars an hour. Hardly worth the risk.
My buddy is an armored car guard and he gets paid 15 an hour to risk his life for a truck full of money or documents. FUCK THAT. I make 100 to 200 an hour and I dont risk my life.

thanks big brujo and bermich, yeah the bounty hunter thing was just i donno out there, i answered my questions pretty much to the point and with out hesitation, the hell with working for the fbi, you need a masters degree or better for alot of there jobs, and you would be paid alot less then if you did civilian work with that kind of degree. i need a job that pays like 100 or 200 dollars a hour, what are you a stripper?

    Hey Big -

You ever think of becoming a Firefighter? It really is satisfying job even if you don't carry a gun. You still have the investigative characteristics as a cop and you get the adrenaline rush and sense of accomplishment when trying to stop someone's home from being destroyed.
If not, defenitely take the test again. Read up on it too. Borders has tons of books for cop and ff'er tests. And bro, trust me, everyone goes through the, "what the f am I going to do" phase. It's something I'm convinced about, there are two crises people go through - a mid-20s and a mid-life. The mid-20s crisis for me was after I'm moved to LA (from philly) and once I got here, I was all, "what the f now?" So no worries, you'll figure it out.

Damn dude, it sounds like you want a job where you can kick some serious ass. Become a personal security guy for celebrities or some shit. Can make tons of cash working for the right person. Sounds more your gig.

well...i would say if you want to stay in the law enforcement field...try applying at the jail, be a corrections officer, your doing the same shit as a cop. Thats what my friend did, because they did not let him in as a police officer. they wanted to get more females and minorities in...belive dat

other then that, try applying for a private investagator, and check this, secret service is hiring uniformed agents, that wouldn't be too bad either, i think i saw the secret service thing on monster.com or hotjobs.com, lol...as for a lawyer, if you havn't watched devils advocate thats a pretty shitty job to defend murderers, and people that are actually guilty...

thats why i went into engineering

    my 2 cents

Maybe try for Sheriff instead of police if that is the case. Or maybe CHP. I heard one is harder than the other to get into. Cant remember which one.
Prision guard is some scarey shit. I wouldnt wanna be one of them.

thats just like getting a law degree, sports medicine i think you need a doctorate, but that would be a cool job be a trainer for an nfl team or something...

    good luck bro

did you ever hear the saying, if you had a million dollars, what would you be doing if you had that much money, thats which direction you should go into...

i'm sure it would be a ton of sauce, but its something to think about

I was a MP in the USAF (actually we were called LE's--law enforcement) and when I got out I considered gettin on with the Dallas Police, but once I realized the City of Dallas didn't screen out the extreme idiots from the city the way the military does in its recruitment process, I changed my mind. Something like half of all the cops that get killed get that way during routine traffic stops. Plus, as of lately, passing the Dallas Police entrance exam is becoming more and more of a political thing (long ugly story). Basically, if you want to pursue a law enforcement gig, you can do better than a local PD.

Aside from some of the other options mentioned (Marine MP, PI, bodyguard, jail guard, firefighter, bounty hunter), US Customs is hiring, as is the Border Patrol in South Texas/New Mexico/Arizona. But, if you want a chance to make some $$$, forget the government jobs. Depending on what other classes you've taken in school, you might could latch on to a company that makes & markets supplies to law enforcement, travel around and use your education to help explain what the stuff does and demonstrate how to use it . . . essentially a sales sort of job. But sales jobs can be very very lucrative, depends on your abilities, really.
And again, avoiding gov't jobs, there are private companies that provide investigation services to corporations and individuals . . . never know where that road might lead ya.
I knew a guy who was a private eye, did investigations mostly for divorce cases. Said he spent 90% of his time sitting in his car waiting with a camera. Doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun to me . . . Then there are big multi-national corporations like the one I used to work for. They've got a crack investigational team that they use to track down errant employees when they flee the state, and I'm sure they're involved in conductiong industrial espionage to get other company's secrets as well as fighting other corporation spies bent on doing the same thing. If you want to get into the dirty tricks end of the business, that's the place to start.

Really, I'd suggest paying a visit to a career counselor, someone who knows what's what in the field (and related fields) you wanna be in. Should be several listed in your Philly phone book. An hour spent with one of them could point your way to something terrific you hadn't even considered . . .

thanks Tock, some of what you said is kind of like what i do now, i work for a business that sells security products like cameras and phone taps that kinda stuff. i go out to peoples houses and buisnesses and map things out and sell the job. i go out in the instalations to, it's not bad for right now but it just doesn't do anything for me. we sell alot to private eyes and all, who just sit in a car all day with a camera on there mark. thing is with me i'm really smart if i'm driven, if i don't like a certain class or whatever i just have no ambition. i really am thinking about switching majors and going to school longer, the thing that sucks is i want everything right now but it all takes time. i guess its because of the damn music videos with young people driving around in there denali's with double deuces, just kidding eminem is the only good white rapper so i'm of luck there.

With all the money that is being offered and the endless amount of jobs with a chance to travel wherever I want and get paid to do it hell I wasn't going to pass it up. You can't let one fail make you just give up bro. I was trying to get on in Los Angeles when they made a white male have a 105% on the oral to be accepted. 5% given for military experience. My bro failed the psych 5 times. He still eventually passed. Look at how far you've come by passing the written and oral already. I've seen people fail the written even. It was actually kinda funny cause the test was so easy. Just retake it a couple times if needed. You'll get there.

Speaking of office space, I have sat my ass in a cubicle for the past 12 years. I might make good $ but I really wish I could make decent money doing something a little more thrilling than pushing plastic keys on a keyboard all day. Don' t give up the dream. What is your college major? I had a friend who tried the FBI, he got a masters in English then went to Law School and still had a tough time getting in. Not trying to offend anyone but even the minorities would tell him that he had a big strike against him because his race is very much factored in. He ended up as an assistant states attorney, got his little badge and a permit to carry a pistol so I guess he is happy with that.

i'm a justice major right now, i guess i fucked up like 5 years ago when i got out of high school because i took some time off, but what i should of done was enlisted. i have this really good plan but i'm to fuckin honest to go through with it, i can get a job as a bouncer at this strip club that i know, get certified as a trainer, train them all and sell them coke because they love to spend money, they will be losing weight and thinking it's because of me, i could probably bang them all and it would be a good way to end the year, to bad i don't have the balls to do this!

The background check is rough. If you have friends or even neighbors that are felons it hurts.
The physical is rough if you are out of shape
Then there is the psych which you found is hard.
Wait til you get to the Polygraph.

Im curious what questions they asked you on your psych. Do you remember what most of them were and how you answered?

Maybe instead of answering the questions honestly you should have lied and written down exactly what a poindexter would've. I suggest taking the test again, and just saying the first test's failure was because you filled in the bubbles wrong.

what kind of animals are we talking about here? the backround check was cool my neighborhood is like all cops, i was never busted for anything, yet, the physical was easy i'm in good health. they stopped the polygraph thank god because in philadelphia if they can't hold up in court trials why should it work for this. the psych was weird, the first part was a 567 question test on a computer mostly the same questions over just refraised. i guess when you get to like 400 and something you could click by accident that you like to fuck animals. they asked if you love your mom, dad, bros, sisters that kinda shit. do you get stomach aches and shit alot. do you hea voices, get fits of rage, cry alot, hurt small animals that kind of stuff. my mom just passed away in may so i think they used that against me thinking i would loose it being to soon and all. every body is alittle fucked up every now and then so i don't know whatever happens happens. when i take it again i'm just going to be straight to the point with my answers and make sure they are sain.

actually maybe i am kinda messed up when i think about, but i can't be the only one that thinks this way. my boss said to me the other day why do you want to do this shit, risk your life everyday and have to worry about homeless people with heroin addictions scratching at you and chance catching the hiv and all. what i told him was this, i couldn't sit in an office all day long, i couldn't do construction all year or work in a hospital or teach a class. i couldn't run wires or hang on telephone poles or anything that doesn't invole excitement. sorry for those of guys who do this stuff it's just not me. i want to be shot at, i want to run down dark ally ways with my glock out ready for whatever. i want to break up disputes, chase wanted fugitives, get on the swat team or undercover narcotics. i guess because i'm only 22 and i don't have a family of my own to support and somebody to look forward to me coming home everyday. i mean i still have my father, sister, and friends, i mean i have a girl friend right now but that shit changes like the fuckin seasons for me and that sucks to but i guess if i had something alittle more serious i would care more. maybe this is why i failed, oh and my father and like half my family are cops so growing up all i ever been around was cop stuff, hearing stories and all. i'm a product of my enviroment.
