This F'ing Sh*t should be ILLEGAL!!!!!

Damn these f'ers!!! One of my friend's AIM profiles said "My favorite website" with a hyperlink. I clicked on it, and it was some kind of worm or whatever that changed his profile to that...and each of us who clicked on her link now have pop-ups galore (even though I have google pop up blocker which WAS working fine) and a fun new toolbar we didn't ask for.

First, does anyone know how I can find what it is and get it the hell off my computer?

Second, this bullshit should be ILLEGAL. I paid for my PC, i own my PC and in my opinion, anyone who screws with it without consent should be held in the same regards as someone that tampers with your car, house or other property. I'm thinking that for each and EVERY popup I get because of this before I can get it removed, I am going to write a letter to whatever company it's advertising stating that I will now NEVER patronize them in any way shape or form and will suggest this to EVERY person i know because someone entrusted to adverstise for them went about it in this manner of hijacking an AIM profile.

EDIT: if you're scanning this post and not reading the ones below, how does the oringial individual get this off her profile? It keeps returning.

    alright Bro, easy fix...

    www.cnet.com

    go to the download section,
search for Spybot..get it download it and run it....it will kill off all of the damn programs that run in the back ground..in short, no more pop ups

LMAO, I feel ya on that.

I updated a guys computer the other day, 23 critical updates from windows. They didn't want to be bothered with it, so they always closed it. Some people just don't get it.

go with spybot...I used a packet sniffer and found that adaware uses a few cookies to keep in contact with the orginator....they see you but you don't see them...

Spy bot gives you the option for downloading updates.

Thanks for the tip...i did spybot, and it cleared out a number of things, but left the toolbar and IE favorites stuff, which i just deleted "by hand".

Since you guys seem to know so much, do you know how my original friend gets rid of the hyperlink on her AIM profile? She changes it but it keeps returning

tell her to get spybot as well. I would think it is either that or a virus.

On to another question: how is this legal? I mean, TNT can't suddenly configure my cable box so that every time i turn on the TV, it goes to TNT?

This wasn't done by your instant messenger or your internet service. This was done by some kid that found a way to exploit a security hole. Look at viruses, worms, hacking, spyware, etc.... Most of the time these are not done by businesses (if it is done by a business, it's in very small print). Is it illegal, yeah you could probably say that, but finding them is a major problem that involves various countries and it probably won't change any time soon.

Was that when someone somehow sent the virus through our allsports system? You can't get a virus from the message board.
