    How many are divorced?

How many members out there have been through a divorce? Bert and I were both previously married. Berts Ex was abusive my ex had an affair and left me for the other guy.

Long term common law arrangements count as well.

How long does a r,ship have to be to be Common law arrangements.

Don,t know about the US or anywhere else but in the UK common law husband/wife does not exist in the eyes of the law.It is a pure speculation of circumstances and has no effect on a split by people unmarried. They get no more rights than a guy and a gal who have been together a month even if they have been together for 10years.They are only known as co-habitees within UK law.

In Canada, I'm pretty sure it's one year...and if the is an amicable split...the parties split the assets (unless there was infidelity or some other impropriety)

    Really?

In the UK if you live with someone for 6 mths you are classed as co-habiting.

Saying that it does not give you the same rights as a married couple when it comes to a split.

But... If that partner can prove that they have spent money say on your house that could increase the value you are expected to return that money back to them as long as they can prove it.Joint possesions come down to the golden rule of "possesion is 9/10ths of the law"

If you where co-habiting with someone and you bought a car together it would either be sold and the money split or one party would offer to buy the other share of the car.

Trust me I found this all out the hard way after she cleaned me out
