to go alongside the underrated thread, my vote is for alice in chains, they get so much airplay, and frankly, they suck nuts, also the offspring get a lot of play for putting out the same song with a different title every year

i think the best way to say it is before the black album they were underrated and after the black album they were way overrated, honestly metallica fans, play ride the lightning and load back to back and tell me they are the same band, i know there are different members, but the two main songwriters are still there

agree with ron 100%......metallica was putting out sick **** in 1983!!! ****, that is still listened to today by millions.....1983 is the era of ****ty white trash hair bands that all got owned by metallica.......metallica also pretty much ruined power chords and solo's for guitar players everywhere because they did it all......as for u2, they are extremely overrated and if they were'nt irish, nobody would give a **** about them

Exactly. We're talking about the present here.. and the metallica of the present sucks. Just because they were good at one point, for example enter sandman is one of the best rock songs ever, does not mean that they are good now. At the moment, metallica is the most overrated band. They haven't come out with a single song worth listening to in the last 6 years.

any metallica after 1988 is overrated. depressing music where people stair at their shoes and look like they just fixed my car is overrated (i.e. NIRVANA, PEARL JAM). i guess i am just a fan of those white trash 80s hair and glam bands (motley, poison, gnr, ratt, wasp). those guys are the bands that rock.

ps-alice in chains are bad ass. they are the only good band to come out of the whole grunge scene.

Led Zep greatest of all time....a founding member's tradgic death will help a band retire...although page and plant have continued to come back and live off of their previous success

rage against the machine and nirvana are two of the best bands of the last 20 years, although rage can be a little too preachy, IMO, i can't understand why everybody loves alice in chains so much, i find it difficult to listen to any of their cd's from beginning to end

2Pac and biggie!!!? They're the greatest hip hop artists of all time. Wow. Sorry but I disagree. The creativity they had in thier songs is better than any of the hip hop crap of today. They are both dead and still manage to come out with albums that go at least double platinum.

I still cant see why everyone likes rage there music is **** in my eyes . Nirvana is in a completely different class over rage. Listen to nirvana unplugged and keep in mind there was no rehearsal prior to this performance! they played for the first time ever with the meatpuppets live unrehearsed. how such a flawless album was produced from this blows my mind. Rage never caught my attention to me it was just angry music with no harmony or beat.
