I will be an asshole if they FUKC up my order for the 3rd time. Once or twice is fine, but when they get pissed cause I ASK them to take my order back for the second time because it was not right two times and everyone else is eating and done before I get my food thats ok. But the THIRD TIME is a little much. Especially when all I ask for is a root beer and not a coke for the EIGHTH time.

I could go on forever about sihtty service and I still tip. But being a punk and trying to steal from someones credit card with adding on fees is not right.

I do tip and 9 times out of 10 I overtip a little bit just so I don't look like a $hit (I always have a few singles ready at the barbershop) but for me Tarentino pretty much said everything that needs to be said on the topic:

NICE GUY EDDIE: Okay, everybody cough up green for the little lady.
NICE GUY EDDIE: C'mon, throw in a buck.

    MR. WHITE: Uh-uh. I don't tip.

NICE GUY EDDIE: Whaddaya mean you don't tip?

MR. WHITE: I don't believe in it.

NICE GUY EDDIE: You don't believe in tipping?

MR. PINK: I love this kid, he's a madman, this guy.

MR. BLONDE: Do you have any idea what these ladies make? They make ****.

MR. WHITE: Don't give me that. She don't make enough money, she can quit.

NICE GUY EDDIE: I don't even know a Jew who'd have the balls to say that. So let's get this straight. You never ever tip?

MR. WHITE: I don't tip because society says I gotta. I tip when somebody deserves a tip. When somebody really puts forth an effort, they deserve a little something extra. But this tipping automatically, that ****'s for the birds. As far as I'm concerned, they're just doin their job.

MR. BLUE: Our girl was nice.

MR. WHITE: Our girl was okay. She didn't do anything special.

MR. BLONDE: What's something special, take ya in the kitchen and suck your dick?

NICE GUY EDDIE: I'd go over twelve percent for that.

MR. WHITE Look, I ordered coffee. Now we've been here a long ****in time, and she's only filled my cup three times. When I order coffee, I want it filled six times.

MR. BLONDE: What if she's too busy?

MR. WHITE: The words "too busy" shouldn't be in a waitress's vocabulary.

NICE GUY EDDIE: Excuse me, Mr. White, but the last thing you need is another cup of coffee.

MR. WHITE: These ladies aren't starvin to death. They make minimum wage. When I worked for minimum wage, I wasn't lucky enough to have a job that society deemed tipworthy.

NICE GUY EDDIE: Ahh, now we're getting down to it. It's not just that he's a cheap bastard--

MR. ORANGE: --It is that too--

NICE GUY EDDIE: --It is that too. But it's also he couldn't get a waiter job. You talk like a pissed off dishwasher: "**** those ****s and their ****ing tips."

MR. BLONDE: So you don't care that they're counting on your tip to live?

MR. WHITE: Do you know what this is? It's the world's smallest violin, playing just for the waitresses.

MR. BLONDE: You don't have any idea what you're talking about. These people bust their ass. This is a hard job.
MR. WHITE: So's working at McDonald's, but you don't feel the need to tip them. They're servin ya food, you should tip em. But no, society says tip these guys over here, but not those guys over there. That's bull****.

MR. ORANGE: They work harder than the kids at McDonald's.

MR. WHITE: Oh yeah, I don't see them cleaning fryers.

MR. BROWN: These people are taxed on the tips they make. When you stiff 'em, you cost them money.

MR. BLONDE: Waitressing is the number one occupation for female non-college graduates in this country. It's the one jab basically any woman can get, and make a living on. The reason is because of tips.

MR. WHITE: **** all that. Hey, I'm very sorry that the government taxes their tips. That's ****ed up. But that ain't my fault. it would appear that waitresses are just one of the many groups the government ****s in the ass on a regular basis. You show me a paper says the government shouldn't do that, I'll sign it. Put it to a vote, I'll vote for it. But what I won't do is play ball. And this non- college bull**** you're telling me, I got two words for that: "Learn to ****in type." Cause if you're expecting me to help out with the rent, you're in for a big ****in surprise.

MR. ORANGE: He's convinced me. Give me my dollar back.

JOE: Okay ramblers, let's get to rambling. Wait a minute, who didn't throw in?

    MR. ORANGE: Mr. White.

    JOE: Mr. White? Why?

    MR. ORANGE: He don't tip.

JOE: He don't tip? You don't tip? Why?

MR. ORANGE: He don't believe in it.

JOE: He don't believe in it? You don't believe in it?

    MR. ORANGE: Nope.

JOE: Shut up! Cough up the buck, ya cheap bastard, I paid for your god**** breakfast.

MR. WHITE: Because you paid for the breakfast, I'm gonna tip. Normally I wouldn't.

JOE: Whatever. Just throw in your dollar, and let's move. See what I'm dealing with here. Infants. I'm ****in dealin with infants.
    Was that from CASINO???

Another add on to this thread cause I think I now hate ALL servers.
I read the other threads and saw the visine and add your own tip posts.
1: You can lose your job and be charged FEDERAL for typing in a tip amount that exceeds the original amount written in by the CC holder. It has happened twice. Losing their job. Not being charged.

2: Some whore bitch waitress at Red Robin did that visine thing to me cause she was a dumb ass whore who refused to listen and get it through her head about our orders. Like I said earlier, even down to the coke and root beer thing 8 times. LITERALLY, every refill was coke instead of root beer. 8 times. Before she picked up my glass I said ROOT BEER.
She also relunctantly took my food back 3 times cause each time it had quacamoli on it.
Well I let it slide for awhile but then I just became an asshole cause she was ruining my lunch iwth my friends.

SO the whore put visine in my root beer. 10 minutes later I had the ****s so bad. Luckily I lived 5 minutes away and was going home anyway.

I called up a few of my friends who were real bitches. Gave them some money to go eat at Red Robins and told them the story and told them where to sit. I dont know the exact of it but those girls came back laughing their asses off.
They made the waitress start crying so hard in the middle of the restaruant that she left work for the day.

They can be total bitches for the fun of it. I love em.
I should have them fukc with my bartender friend.

I tip 20% for regular service, atleast 25% if the person is good, which seems to quite rare lately, if they piss me off from the start then it's nothing, and I complain to management so I can get all my food free, lol. Lastly if it's a pretty waitress, well we all let alot more slide and still lay a fat tip out

After reading some of this **** I don't blame him. I always tip well but that should never be expected. I've never gotten a tip at any of my jobs. I've had people working for me who made minimum wage and I never saw a client come in a give them a tip for a job well done.

Like I said I tip well if the service is good and even if its not so good I'll tip at least 15% most of the time. It its completely horrible I have even left a penny just to be a jerk. With a penny they know you didn't forget. Also I have been place where they put it on the receipt up front as a normal rule of thumb. I make them take it off and that is the last time I will go there. If the waiter or waitress was good I'll tip at least that and most of the time more anyway but it should not be a given. I have never seen a law where tipping is required. Also I think tip-jars are like begging. Are you panhandling or making my **** Mocha latte. No I'm not a cheap bastard but making good tips should not be a given. hell most waitresses at places I regular think I'm a good tipper but I go their cause I get good service.

If I were to find out some restaurant personnel tampered with my food in any way I'd have the place shut down right there and then. The Food Inspectors work in the same office as me and I can enforce most of their code and rules, and thats one of the few situations where I would not hesitate to use and abuse the authority my job grants me to the max.

Waiters can be rude and insulting all they want - everyone has shietty days - but don't mess with peoples food and health...

I got back at her in my own way.
It just sucks knowing they have that kind of power over my food. I am trusting them to serve safe sanitary food. Instead, just cause she was lazy and was called on it, she decided to ruin my health by tampering with my food. She does not deserve that kind of power over me. What if I had a long drive home or was going somewhere other than home. I could not hold that in. It was a mess in that bathroom. I honestly think some exploded out of the toilet.

No I dont hate all servers. I was drunk and went to dennys at 2am and my friends took my silverwear away from me cause I would have hurt myself. I told my waitres I needed a knife to cut my pancakes and my friends said I was banned from using sharp objects.
So she got a knife from the table, cut my panakes and fed them to me for five minutes.
She got a good tip and was off at 3 am

But it is legal for them to say "on parties of 8 or more 15 % gratuity is automatically added to the bill" right ??

sometimes i don't see why they do this. if you had 15 %, you're only gonna get 15 %. me and my friends aren't stingy with the money, so you would have gotten probably 25 % because everyone just throws in.

Speaking of tipping... I went to saltgrass steakhouse in houston the other day. Price range $12-25 an entree. My date works at another restaraunt in the same chain so she gets 50% off. Are you su pposed to tip 15% on the original price or the discounted one? Well anyway the bill comes it's 36.50 or something for both of us. She gets the 50% off and it comes out to 18. I leave a $5 tip and make it 23. Few days later I check my account balance and that asshole had turned my 3 into an 8 and I got charged $28. Next time i'm in houston you can be sure I'm going to pay that restraunt a visit....

If you still have your copy of the signed receipt, I HIGHLY suggest you call the Credit Card company and contest the bill AND press fraud charges with the cops... most credit card compnies take fraud pretty seriously.

Don't let this **** get away with it that easily... he needs a weekend in a cell with bubbah.

one thing you guys are failing to realize is that it is itemized on the bill, it's not a hidden charge, so if you sign it, it's assumed that you've read it, just like any other contract, i seriously doubt that you could have charges brought up against you for adding the tip on the bill. the servers are charged taxes for the sales they generate, because the government assumes that they are receiving a tip, that's why servers only get paid $2 an hour, so if you don't tip, it's like charging me personally to wait on you, that's also why they are allowed to add it on to the bill

no, we realize it. but when someone changes the number from it's original value, then there's a shady business going on - especially when the purchasee has a copy of the receipt with imprints.

I always tip over 20% no matter how the service was and if it's really good I go up to 40%....... Some things can't be helped and it's not always the servers fault............... I worked in restaurants all through school so I know how hard it can be sometimes.

oh, no. that i can live with. but most times if they add the tip that's all their gonna get. i've always tipped more than what they're willing to accept. but like i said, if they're going to go ahead and add it, sorry bud, that's all you get then.

i generally tend to tip 20% minimum at the resteraunts i frequent often. i like it that all the servers are super nice and know exactly what i order. in other places the tip is determined by service.

that's the secret, become a regular at a place and you don't even have to tip that great, just be a cool person, tip 10-15% every time and you'll get great service in most places, having someone tip you a big amount is great, but as a server, you make your money off of regulars, so we know who to take care of

that is the most insensitive thing i've ever read, what gives you the right to look down upon someone who may not have had the same opportunities you had? they are working to earn a living, or maybe even paying their way through school, before you cast the holier than thou attitude upon me, or anybody else, take a look in the mirror, the people who work in the food/beverage industry are not peons who have no motivation

hey jerk off, I wait tables and I can tell you I am probably more educated than you. Sorry if I need an income on my way to an mba and I don't want to make 5.15 in my ****ty ass town I go to school in. Motivation? Suck my dick. Yeah, glass as the tip meter? I've almost beat a guy's ass at a party before because he gave me a couple ****ty ass tips because he couldn't afford what he ordered but wanted to treat his girl out. I can guarantee you, if you did that with me and I saw you later, we'd have some words. You sound pretty ignorant.

well when somebody makes a comment like that, what is this clown thinking? He is a normal guy just like me and to think of me as no motivation or lazy or whatever is pretty stupid. You should have seen the look on this guy's face when I called him out at the party though. It was hilarious to call him a chip ass bitch in front of a bunch of people.

50%......this is a pretty bad reason to start a fight. You are literally picking a fight for a few dollars.

There is a difference between a customer who is a 'bad tipper' or a minimal tipper and someone who is being an asshole. I think we need to concentrate more on the average customer and not the extreme cases (like credit card fraud, visine etc) although it is good to be aware that things like that can and do happen.

And big ol legs putting the tip on the table and taking some away every time the server is not 100% on the ball sounds like a good way to wind up eating food that someone spit in.

yeah, it was a bad reason to start a fight and I calmed down but college students should just know. The guy was in my class a couple semesters before so he knew me. I am not looking for anything bad ass or nothing like that. Acutally here is what happened so you will understand why I almost faught him. I was at a party my frat threw and I was behind a bar serving and getting myself some margaritas from a machine we had. he walked up(not in any frat, uninvited) and demanded some drinks. I was like what? I go well go ahead and drop a few bucks for the party. He was like why? I said you didn't pay for the alcohol and he said something to that and then I said, oh wait, I remember, you are a cheap muther$ucker, I remember you. I called him cheap to his face, then he walked a way talking to his boy who was a little bigger and I heard it and was like hey bitch, try talking **** to my face and that is the reason. Not necessarily tipping, but I called him out on it and he didn't like it. Honestly, I am happy with my job, yeah it sucks to get crappy tips but I do okay. I just try to enlighten some who don't have any idea what we do.

man, if you dont get a tip, its prlly bc of the service, you can all say what u like about me, and my education, but illl compare the uni i graduated from with anyone. and id love for you to meet me and say that. my stats are not hard to find big guy. the bottom line is this, if your a waiter and thats your desired job field, your a unmotivated ****. if u dont get a tip, most of the time its bc of your work, if u wanan get paid good, then get a good job, if your to dumb to see that, then serve me my ****in chicken and get the **** away.

    I tip based on service.

Service is not how quickly you get your food.. but it is how quickly you get your beverages and how correct your order is. If she's hot and friendly it's also a plus. I understand that it's the chefs that are responsible for the wait for food, so i don't deduct for that, but if she's a bitch or slow with her part of the bargian, or if my food is wrong, i just won't tip her well. If the service is good i do 30%. If it's ****ty, on one or two occasions i've left less than a dollar. You can't expect to make me wait an hour to even ask me for my order, and then leave my drink empty the entire meal while getting my order wrong and expect a good tip at the same time

I was drunk and playing a little too rough with my knife and fork waiting for my food. So they took everything away from me except my spoon. I complained I couldnt eat pancakes with a spoon and the waitress felt sad for me cause I had mean friends.
