Me finace downloaded a screen saver program this weekend
on her PC and somehow it seems that after she downloaded
it the PC now has virus attached...
The screensaver came from screensavers.com

Before I go and wipe the harddrive clean and have to restore
everything and lose a ton of Information, which I don't want
to have to do I was hoping one of you bros like Silcilian30 or
anyone else could help...

Whatever it is it has reset my internet homepage to adfreesearch.com
and it has all kinds of porn and drug bull**** on it... It will not allow
me to change the homepage because after rebooting after
changing it it still goes right back to this adfreesearch.com homepage
****... The email for this a s s hole is [email protected]

It also will not allow me to enter the control panel and reset any
settings and every site you click on that is linked to this piece of
**** homepage is saved as a favorite...

It will not let me into any of the add/remove program files, control panel,
settings, nothing that would let you attempt to fix the settings...

To top things off we just got Broadband and the PC was lighting fast
and now it has slowed down to almost the same speed as my old
dial-up service...

I have done all kinds of virus scans and she has McAfee Shield on this
PC and it has found nothing... I have Norton on my PC and it kicks ass...

But it's to late for that cus things are already screwed up...

Anyone know about this, there's is also a link to contact this cocksucker
that I guess made this homepage and it directs you to a page where
he rags on Microsoft and it MS fault for designing their software to allow
this **** to happen...

Help!

I heard that was going around.. The only idea i can think of is if you know where the program is on your hard drive.. Use the Virus software to quarantine it, and then delete it thru mc Affe, or norton or whatever you have.. Delete the whole screen saver program you downloaded, cause that is what contains the corrupt file.. I'm afraid if she installed the software, then she's screwed...

All you can do is backup your hardrive and do a quick restore.. I hate nerds that try to get into the spotlight by thinking up something annoying like that..

Dude, I honestly dont think its a virus, it sounds more like spyware, and its very hard to delete it without a spyware program. Download a program called Ad-Aware and do a system scan. I think you can get Ad-Aware at downloads.com. If that doesnt work try Spybot. Dont delete all your **** just yet, Ive run into this same type of problem and fixed it up perfectly with Ad-aware and Spybot. These assholes go out and design these ad programs to hi-jack peoples computers and make them a pain in the ass to delete, so its common to think its a virus. Good luck bro. Oh yeah, Im pretty sure those two programs are free.

it is having access to files and information
like bank accounts and passwords???

That is my biggest concern...

I doubt it. I think most of these ad programs are made for these porn companies who will go to idiotic extremes to advertise their sites. But still be concerned, you personal files are vulnerable when your not the only one whos in controll of your computer. In this case, I think youll be alright. A lot of programs have backdoors for hackers to come in, so thats the only thing I would worry about but if you have a firewall, it will really help. I get these spy programs all the time and those programs I was talking about take care of everything. What really sucks is that these programs can keep you from deleting them.
