The New Ford Cobra
~Carroll Shelby unveils New Ford Shelby Cobra concept~
Detroit, Michigan - At the Detroit auto show, Carroll Shelby unveiled the new Ford Shelby Cobra concept car. The unveiling comes just six months after Shelby and Ford announced a new partnership. The Ford Shelby Cobra has a 605 horsepower, 6.4 litre, all aluminum V10 engine with 501 foot-pounds of torque. Without the aid of supercharging or turbocharging, the Cobra will do 0 - 60 in less than four seconds.
"This is an exciting time for Cobra and Ford fans," said Carroll Shelby. "If we were starting the Cobra today from scratch, this is the way it would look and feel by today's standards."
In the 1960s Carroll Shelby and Ford worked together on both racing and production vehicle programs, from the original Ford-powered Shelby Cobra to the Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 racing cars and the Shelby GT350 and GT500 Mustangs.
Don't know about any you on AR, but this thing is going to be one helluva toy!

Thats not too bad, I thought it would be more then that.. considering an S7 is $500,000, and an original shelby from 66, 67 is around $100,000.. The 427 SO Cobra, half a million easy.. not a reproduction.

Pssssssssh!!!!! You and you bow tie bastards, Just wait a few years, and they are going to phase out the vette just like they phased out the F-body platform.. Then where will you go, who will you run to..
Haha...I'm kidding i'd buy a vette myself, 95 grand is alot of cheese, but you are buying the name shelby more then anything..

Stick that little pony up against an LPE Vette and see what you get (again...shelling out a ton for a name). Hell, that LPE Vette costs more than the mustank...I mean mustang.
Monster, we both know what direction this discussion will soon head...we will be bench racing and brand bashing in no time! Ain't it fun.

You silly silly men, Do you remember GM's SLP big block 700hp camaro vs. The king of the pavement the 850+hp Boss Mustang matchup they did back in 2000.. Coletti from SVT and Moss from GM PERFORMANCE PARTS had a lil competiton.. It was in CAR & DRIVER magazine.. If you don't recall i'll refresh your memory.. That poor all aluminum camaro was anihilated on the strip buddy.. In my eyes that speaks for all engineering coming out of GM.. If GM's back was against the wall, they couldn't produce a super car to save their life.. Their getting too caught up in the SUV and luxory markets, they keep hiring these bozo engineers that don't have any muscle car roots to begin with.. My father is probally turning in his grave now (sorry pop) but i'm sorry to say that GM has fallen behind in the pack..
haha...its war buddy

You have to sell cars (SUVs) to generate funds for R&D. GM has a problem selling vehicles....they don't wear out, so there is no need to buy new ones. Ford has a disposable product...no need to spice things up to get new sales...they figure they already pulled your pants down once...you're slow enough to let em get ya again.
As for Moss...he's gone. I liked him, but the bastard lost that challenge you mentioned...he never could get the thing to run right that day, and the blue oval guys figured that since they got out of there with a win...there was no need giving Moss another opportunity.

Monster, tell that to my brother-in law that bought the $60,000 cobra-r to race. he did all his research and still gets smoke by the vette at the track. it must really suck to buy a "race car" and get spanked by a car with leather, dual zone climate control and a bose sound system. ford racing??? no thanks!

LOL...true, and that old bag did retire!!! I really can't say anything bad about GM, other then i am so disappointed by them pulling that platform.. I can blame many sleepness nights on that decision.. I dig the blue oval, but if i had the chance i would do up a camaro real nice.. NO DOUBT.. One day, We should plan on taking our cars to the track swellin, without a doubt it would be a blast, and we can brag afterwards!!!
Here's the 850 horsepower Boss (429ci shotgun motor (hemi))
..and here's one of that 700 horsepower camaro (ZL-1 all aluminum 572ci)
I'm pissed i couldn't find a picture of the motor, it is a true masterpiece

I remember that Moss slipped in a d*mn Donovan block.
Nothing like $6k to save a little weight on the nose.
I turned that little WS6 back over to my brother this weekend. I have been carsitting while he was in Iraq. I did some nice stuff to it, and I am putting everything together for the rest of its transformation. It can be seen (and heard..this new exhaust will boil your blood) around Ft. Cambell, KY.
Unfortunately, I am out of the racing business until I make some occupational changes...that are in the works. I'll have to stick to driving the truck that you saw pulling his car.:spudniktr
