Haha... Is it just me or did Berm reply 20 times in a row with the same thing? To answer your question.. I've never been on a date, and someone stopped talking to me because of the car i drove? There are girls like that, that need to be seen in a nice ride, for them to feel good about themselves.. I have never borrowed my buddys piece of sh!t car to see if a paticular person is materialistic, or have dressed up or down for a paticular scenerio to set things up.. Just be yourself, Usually you can tell by the first 5 minutes by talking to them, you don't need to set it up like that.. Oh well berm, cheer up bro, just find a chick into vintage hondas, that takes showers once a week and still listens to soundgarden on a regular basis.. hehe

I dunno.. I agree with you to a point I guess. All i wear is hoodies and jeans, I have no car (still in school...startin at over a buck in about a 1.5 yrs). So far I havent run into any shallow demon girls. I dont like girls who are attracted to guys for security reasons. So i gues im in the process of trying that long term lol

I'd show up for the date looking like a bum and tell them I had a job interview the day I met them... and my friend let me borrow their car.... so just add in the unemployment on top of it.. it would be great if they actually got in the car and gave me the time of day with that broken down pickup truck

I like nice things... because I like nice things... not because I want someone to look at me and say.... oh she has a nice car/house/shirt.... whatever.... and think that I'm higher up than anyone who doesn't have these things.... the world is going to hell... and this thread is only one of the reasons

Car doesn't make the man.....IMO the guys driving the fancy cars are knuckleheads...more worried about their cars than any woman that they could be with. They want the woman that accents their car.

I'll take a guy that treats me well and drives a POS car over a jerk driving a porche any day.

Funny............I used to drive around in this beat-the-****-up Plymouth Duster for years. Started it with a screw drive, never changed the oil and left it unlocked no matter where I went (None would ever believe I had a $900 stero system in it). It had a slant six that just would not die............however I couldn't get one female to give me the time of day. A couple of years later i bought a Vette and then all of a sudden they come out of the woodwork. I made it a point not to even bother with those types. Of course not all women are like that (and for sure none are here on AR) but still it made me wonder.

My parents owned a Ford Pinto. That car would NOT die. IT rusted to pieces but the engine kept on going and going.

I've never been materialistic.....so it's hard for me to relate to that attitude.

i used to get the ladies with my old 84 escort wagon. Oh yeah bright red with the back half madeof bondo and primer. Had no radio....ppl liked it though cause it vibrated like a mofo and leaned to the outside of the turn.

You know it can go both ways too...this is one reason why I don't date materialistic men.
I have a nice Toyota Celica new paint job, but still haven't found my wheels yet, so I leave them black instead of getting hub caps.
I can't tell you how many guys have made nasty remarks to me. One guy asked me to not come back to his neighborhood until I get some because it looked ghetto.. WTF
Another guy I dated a few times said something along the lines, "you really need to get some hub caps", my reply was "no, I really don't NEED hub caps", and he looked at me and said, I guess not.... and he never called me back! lol... I didn't like him much anyways.
All I see in those guys is complete self absorbed and it makes me ill. If a guy likes me for who I am, he would care less about what my car looks like. And it goes the same with Materialistic girls. All those people to me are fake and it's always "Look at me!".

They are probably mad seeing an independent woman having a nicer car than they do so they pick at any weakness they see.

I never understood the whole nice car thing. I mean liking someone for a nice car? It's so dumb I almost cannot believe it happens.....I mean any bum with 0 down and 499 an month can get a smokin ride. Now liking someone for their money, trashy but I can understand the motivation behind it.

Anyone ever see the movie, The Bronx Tale? You know the test the kid gives the chick - opens the car door for her and lets her in, then walks around and sees if she unlocks the door for him. That test actually works. I did that once w/o even thinking back in college!! Have used it ever since. It definitely sets a good impression (w/me anyway) about the chick. Those that actually unlocked the door for me - always good eggs, the others - a stuck up beyatch everytime.
