Alright, it's not THAT harsh, not like a real court or anything. However, for some who remember a while back I posted about being accused of "plagarism." Well tomorrow is the day I go speak with the prof. and the Dean. And well, I'm ****TING my pants here. I get so nervous in situations like this. GOD DAMMIT!!!

Anywho, the letter which was sent to me (I assume is a formal letter) says I used "substantial" amounts from the website. However, it was only 2-3 sentences out of a SIX page essay, so I don't see how that is "substantial amounts."

I'm gonna be honest, tell them that I just forgot, I got an email that proves I sent the essay in at 5:30 in the AM, so I'm gonna tell them I was up late, and sleepy, and rushing to get it done, so I forgot.

One more thing, they DID give me the option of SIGNING a paper (confession of plagarism) and mailing it back to them. By doing so, I would recieve a ZERO on my paper (which would fail the course), and no further action would be pursued. However, I'm hoping they can just forget about it, and count the essay mark, if not I'M ****ED!

Well that's the thing. They submit all essays into a website like www.turnitin.com or something, and it will indicate anything which is similar. HOWEVER, I KNEW this, they state this in EVERY class. I mean, hell if I wanted to plagarize, I would have freaken copied a TON of **** out. It was two lines. I REALLY DID honestly forget, and I know that sounds really stupid, but man, it's all I got

I dunno what WORSE thing could happen. I'm pretty sure worse case scenario, they will just say no, and I will end up with that zero like I would have before. In a sense I have nothing to loose, so might as well try.

Ok, I understand a little better.. I see your angle, i think it depends on the prof. and how the dean is.. Every school is different.. I don't want to be negative, but i'm sure they have to follow a policy.. If they go against it, what does that say about their credibility ya know.. I hope it works out.. Make sure you say that you made a mistake, and you will never conceive of doing that again (even though you didn't really plagurize), bring up how important this class is to you and blah blah blah.. its a long shot bro.. I hope it works out!!!

Bro, I don't see the problem. You ddn't do anything wrong, especially if in the essay the other six pages either supported or disagreed with those sentences you copied. Definitely don't say, "I forgot", but I would say that sending the essay in 5:30 am, you neglected to write the references at the end of the essay. Minor slip, and not intentional. Say it's a good essay and I should be graded on that. Like you said, it's only two sentences. And if they still want to fail you, I'd go to the campus lawyer and see what they say. Should be free...ours was.

i wouldnt sweat it that bad. if what you say is true, about being late, rushing it in, blah blah... just explain that to them.. be really contrite, sincere, and tell them you accept what ever punishment they seem fit- but reinterate that it was an accident.. and that you didnt sign the paper for admitting because you wanted the opportunity to give your explaination (not excuse) for why what happened-happened..

You should definatley tell them you simply forget to add quotes and sight the source. That is your sure fire way of getting out of your situation, the only thing they can say to that is that you're lying, and they have no proof of that.

Man, the past year or so has all been down hill, seems like I can't get no slack cut for me at all. Poo keeps hitting the fan, over, and over, and over again

Well, I went in, the guy was there, with my prof. he was really nice and sincere. I pleaded my case (nervous as hell and shaking), and he was overall nice, and sympathetic. He said I know there is a lot of pressure, and you rushed to get it done last minute, and bla bla bla, unfortunetly, right here and now we only look at the fact, and that is that you did plagarize. If I pushed it forward, it could have been taken further, it would have been turned into an actual tribunal, and I'd actually require some kind of lawyer type person (so I guess in a way VITO wasn't too far off .).

Anywho, I really didn't wanna drag it on for too long, cuz he said right now, if you do admit to it (which I had done from the very beginning), all I do is sign the paper, hand it in, and there would be NO record in my transcript about the incident, and he said that's the best and most lenient thing which could happen at that moment. If I pushed it, it would take so long, probably cost money, and problem is it could get even WORSE with a possible suspension or a note in my transcript, bla bla bla.

Bottom line, I signed the paper, stood up, and told them to bite my ass (well no I didn't say that). Unfortunetly, since the paper was worth like over 30%, I end up failing the course anyways. SO NOW, I have to ****en pull my SGPA up high enough just not to get suspended for a low CGPA.

MY LIFE SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS RIGHT NOW! BIG TIME!!! Just gets WORSE and WORSE...(yeah, this is just me ranting and bullshatting now)...yeah yeah it SUCKS!!!

My workouts SUCK, my family is going through TERRIBLE financial situation, my dad is freaken working two jobs at the age of 65, my sister is unemployed, and maybe lose her home GOD FACKING DAMMIT!!! And WORST of all, I neeeed to get laaaaaayd!!

Na bro, didn't cite it at all. They wouldn't care if I had cited it. Learned the lesson the hard way. The dean representative guy even said himself I know it was just a mistake you made, and I know you realize the situation, and I'm not gonna sit and give you a lecture. He knew it was very mild case, and basically bull****, but had to follow formality and what not.
