    MP3 player or Sony MD?

I had the same Sony MD player for 3 years. This thing was bad ass, and I beat the hell out of it. It finally went out on me, completely, and I'm trying to decide what to get. I could get another one for $100, but I'm curious about the MP3 players. I don't know anything about them. I always heard that the more songs you put on it, the worse the quality is. Is this still the case? What would you get or what do you have?

Man MP3 all the way... no doubt!

Get one that accepts SD or CF cards, the you can load up to 512megs or 1gig of music on cards you can swap... thats a shîtload of tunes!

With mine that has 128mb I load up 40 tunes at 128kbps (standard MP3 bitrate you'll find off Kazaa).

mp3 players are so much better. I bought a 15gb ipod recently. I have over 700 songs on it and I've only used a couple of gb. 700 songs on shuffle rocks!

mp3 without a question. A 40gig i-pod holds 10,000 songs you will never fill that thing. You also can hook it up to your car stereo and home stereo.

Why do that? Get an iPod. You never have to switch or carry around extra cards. All of your mp3s will fit onto one device.

I would love an ipod, but for the gym I'd rather have a cheap MP3 which I can smack with a 45lbs plate and not care too much about breaking than an expensive ipod which I would baby all the time.

Also most mp3's are much smaller than ipods, thats important to me. Mine is smaller than a box of matches, I keep it in a pocket and don't even notice it's there.

The MD is winning? I have a MD player, but its like 10 years old. I always liked the idea, but it seems they never really caught on. Are people starting to use these now?

Yeah, I bought my first like 3 or 4 years ago, and it finally went out. I don't have a lot of money, and it seems the MP3s cost at least $150 for a decent one, and I got my second MD $97 with armband case. It works for me.

No, not true. There were battery problems with the first gen iPods. Not the newer ones. The video floating around the internet is basically a smear campaign. You can buy replacement batteries from $30-$80 and there are companies popping up that offer repair service for iPods.

This is a good site for iPod info.

I love my ipod, i bought the 30g from best buy, bought the 40 service agreement for 3 yrs support....had problems with it, about 3 months later....took it back to best buy and it was replaced with a 40g one-no questions asked...I have become very ipod dependant....Carlos, y did you sell yours?

anyways...ipod all the way...you can also get cool add ons, mini stereo, rca adaptor, fm modulator...very nice!

Ive been looking for a good MP3 player. CD burners are beginning to suck and I hate when one scratch screws up the entire cd.
Now you can plug in the fm receiver and play your ipod on your car stereo or home stereo. That makes me want one even more. ALL my cds on one device would be awesome.

I filled my old iPod and it was time for an upgrade. Glad I did, I got the 15 gig about 3 weeks ago and it's already over half full.
