    Unbelievable Musicians...

Does it blow anybody else's minds how some MC's can come up with the lyrics to songs at the drop of a hat? Like Tupac Shakur came up with the song "Temptations" while sitting on the toilet. Or Aerosmith's Steven Tyler came up with "Dream On" while sitting at the dinner table. And if this blows your mind, then post some good songs you like and how they were created...

Old school rap though. Not the new stuff. The old school Warren G and Paperboy was slick. It wasn't just four words. If you get the chance, check out this old school song; Warren G- Regualtors. Maybe it will change your mind.

Regulators was a classic, the old school rap was definatley good, I like alot of old school rock too like vanhalen (awsome guitar) motley crew, stuff like that, IMO music isnt as good these days as it used to be.

some of the music is, i think alot of the more mellow guitar stuff today, john mayer, dave mattews, jack johnson, stuff like that, is awesome, and far better than the mellow from the past, but you cant beat motley crue or gnr, jackyl, old metallica, megadeth, slayer, primus, i can go on and on..lol

man there is alot of great story tellers in rap too. slick rick was the story teller back then but if you listen to nas' old stuff he is sick...50 cent even has some underground stuff that i think is incredible. raekwon from wu tang clan is also talented.and if you wanna get real underground go with jedi mind tricks, mr lif, necro, cage. they are all on a different level not that mainstream stuff u hear on the radio.

    i totally agree...on all points.

slick rick was incredible...wish he could've kept his ass out of jail.

nas's rhymes are sick...especially the old stuff - but even his new stuff

50's underground stuff, look for his songs put out by DJ Whoo Kid (if you haven't already)...pretty decent if you like this type of stuff...

you could even look at people like mos def, talib kweli, common sense...even the new kanye west CD is damm impressive if you ask me...

    I completely agree with this.

I would not call Tupak a musician, lyricist I'll give'em, but the man didn't make music

Fabolus and Jay-Z are pretty talented if you take the time to listen to more than their singles.

I heard the Eddie and Sammy wrote Finish what you started having a beer sitting out in their backyards on some regular Sunday afternoon. Then there is Panama, and Dave with Yankee rose(yeah I know-I know anton levey) but Eat em smile was after seeing an ad for watermelon. But then again, I would pay eddie to play Happy birthday.

Also, I have read stories of John Lennon and Paul Mcartney were told they needed to have a song to perform the night before going on the Ed sullivan show. The next morning the had like two number 1 hit songs ready to go.

anything by outkast, blackalicious, or mos def is truly amazing.

blackalicious is probably the most underrated "rap" group out there... by far.

i also think eminem is one of the best lyricists alive today.

oh and as for guitar... gotta give credit to stevie ray vaughn...

trey anastasio from Phish is also an amazing musician.
