    Right on. She is a high profile scapegoat. The AGs office goes after her while Kenneth Lay of Enron still hasn't even been charged. Enron swindled billions and manipulated oil prices causing tens of billions in overinflated payments in Ca. I don't like Martha but she really got screwed.

    I never watched her show (I'm not at all into that macrame and decorating crap), don't know much about her, don't really care too much. But y'know, she only made $50,000 on the deal. There's lots of other people make bigger bucks on worse stuff out there . . . I'm still wondering why they spent so much taxpayer $$$ on a case involving only 50 grand?
    I wish they'd spend some time and effort to get the 25% of Texas automobiles without liability insurance off the roads . . .

    None of her convictions were for insider trading....all were regarding lieing and interfering with a government investigation. If she would have admitted her wrong doing from the get go...probably just a fine would have been her punishment. She thought that she was above the law and could get away with telling the FBI whatever she wanted.....

    enuf to break laws that serious just to avoid losing
    $43,000 when she was worth tens of millions should
    go to jail for being a dumb ass...

    risk everything for only $43,000??? That's like
    $5 bucks to me or you... It was nothing for her... How

    She wasn't convicted for that. She was convicted for lying to the investigators. You are right though. She was stupid in her actions. My problem is that the govt only went after her because of her high public profile.
