It scrambles your message til the reciever gets it.The government has the technology to unscramble, but they only do it to suspected terrorists and the likes.

from what i heard ziplip is all that secure...there was a thread on elite fitness as to why it was a poor choice for secure emailing....hushmail is supposed to be a lot better because it actually installs an encrypting device onto your hard drive and it's still free.

    Hushmail & Cyber-rights is 128 bit encryption

Ziplip is not, but hushmail and cyber-rights are text only

So Ziplip has more options for editing and adding attachements, etc...

Both systems are very good, Ziplip is most secure when it is kept to

emailing another Ziplip account only, otherwise it is not all that secure...

Don't worry if the government wants to they will crack anything they want to...

There is no technology available as of now that can crack 128-bit encryption, it's nearly impossible. Anything encrypted by 128 is golden....

one thing i worry about using encripted email is that if i was a narc it would be the first emails i would take a peek at... using a encripted email is like walking into a bank with a ski mask on..

anything the government wants to find out about computers they can..

The down side with ziplip vs. the others...well...that's just it...it is always down!
I have a ziplip...but I just got a cyber-rights. I have not had a single problem with the cyber-rights account. Sometimes, ziplip is down for 2-3 days.

Another bad thing about cyber-rights and hushmail is if you don't use your account after a while they shut it down and make you pay to reopen it.

    Completely wrong...

    The Feds can crack it...

Even 256 bit encryption and more is not 100% safe...

I can't comment on the comparative security debate, but I have never experienced any problems with ziplip. It has never been down when I wanted access. I have only had my account for a few months, and I don't check it every day . . . but I have no complaints.

This is completely true in a practical sense. Cracking an encrypted message, that is decyphering an encoded message, is largely a function of time which is non-linearly proportional to the size of the cipher used. And 128 bit provides more than enough security for cilvillian use. But its worth knowing that the feds can most certainly crack 128.
