Can someone anyone please explain to me why people wear sandals in the gym? Or better yet explain to me how you do squats wearing sandals? I saw a guy today doing squats in sandals and I am thinking what if his foot slips on the sandal. He could seriously injure himself.
I always wear sandals except at the ymca cause they won't let you.
When doin squats i do them barefoot. I just dont like any heavy clothes and try to stay cool without socks etc.
I've never seen anyone wear sandals in a gym..........as for squats,I like a very flat shoe,sometimes I even squat bare foot!!!!!
Barefoot I can understand, but sandals get slippery and your feet are not in there very tightly. I am just waiting for someone to slip roll an ankle and drop a bar on there head.

You will be forced to change into regular shoes or boots in my gym, and yes i have see some of the bigger guys take thier shoes off to squat...

I'm guilty of wearing flops to the gym sometimes, but not because I want to be like Ahhhnold... I'm just a lazy bastard is all!! ;)
Well I doubt my tennis shoes are going soften the blow that much more if I was to drop a plate on it but I still wear em but I'd rather do some lifts bare foot...squat and deadlift come to mind. And CB's right Arnold did wear them but again he flipped them off when it was lift off.
You know what? Come to think of it I've never noticed what others wear while on the floor...well....maybe...the women :D but other than that I just never noticed.
I say let him smash his toe....might be pretty cool if you happen to be there when it happens. hahahaha
