I think it is bullsh*t too...everyone should be created equal....I don't care if you are black, yellow, brown or whatever....it is f*ckin joke! Besides, this cannot make the black community feel too good considering that by lowering the requirements is like saying they are stupid and they more help....if I was black I would be fummin right now.

Everything at Notre Dame should stay the same, every race should have to do the same thing in order to get in. They should not have to lower their standards to allow the dumbasses to get in. That means any race.

i think the US society is really startin to cater to the black community and i dont really understand it, statistically they as a whole stay in more trouble, do more drugs and fill the prison system, i think a better method would be to be stricter on all college admin for all races and whoever earns it, should get it...

He said that ND needed to lower their requirements for everyone in order to land more black athletes. Not just to lower the requirement for blacks. . . . but then he came back and said that he used a bad choice of words and should have said all athletes. He said ND couldn't compete with other top colleges with such strict admission requirements.

Of course, ND issued a statment that said his opinion was not that of the university. . .

with the low rate of college athletes going pro, why would they lower standerds, the education is what the kids will need to make money, bc they wont all be gettin paid to play ball....some of the higher ups in colleges are clearly not thinking....

I don't think ND will lower their standards. . . but football is a big source of revenue and a lot of universities would rather field a great football team with poor students as opposed to a poor team with great students.

race should never be a factor in admission requirements, or scholorships, or financial aide....did you know that in Texas if your like 1/4 indian all of your tuition is payed for!

Im tired of seeing the "Race Card" being pulled...its crap!

I couldn't agree more....however, it is not only the black community...the mexican community is starting to take up where the blacks have left off...at least here in LA. They are populating the jails and they are committing most of the violent crimes.

A lil history of how LA has changed: we all have heard about Compton and South Central LA from the rappers....most people would associate these communities as being all black and viloent...true. However, those neighborhoods use to be all white, then the blacks over took the hoods and distryoed them....now the mexicans are running the blacks out...it's amazing to see this cycle happen right before my eyes...and I have only been here for 28 years. Of course, I was not alive when those towns were all white.

I guess what I am saying here is that we need to stick to our guns...the blacks and immigrants are always wanted to be created equal...fine you can be....but I think this is going to far...welfare is going to far....some of the other assitance they get is going to far....I know this country was not white...we over took it from the Indians...who are now laughing at the white man....i guess this is life.

Sorry to rant....I just noice somethings that others may not....

They are not talking about lowering standards for blacks to get in. They are talking about lowering standards across the board to atract more black athletes who don't qualify right now. IF the standards are lowered it will be for everyone not just blacks. The person who said this was Paul Hourning. He played football there in the 50's even won the Heisman but he is not in Notre Dame's administration. No one at the university ever said anything about lowering their entrance standards.

Only one person said it. . . and it wouldn't just effect black students, it would effect everyone. But it's not gonna happen, anyway.

No one from the University has even comminted about this. Paul Hourning was trying to make the point that ND could not compete in football if they did not get the same athletes as Miami and USC and others. This happens to most of the time be inner city kids who concentrate on sports more than academics. This has nothing to do with calling anyone less athletic or giving one race a break cause of there skin color. This is not a black and white thing it is a football thing and ND is not going to lower its standards, because its academic reputation far out weighs its football rep.

great point, also i played a year of college ball and it has yet to help me get any job, the inner city kids need to focus on education, not athletics, so few of them or any race will turn pro, that the education is the only sure chance they have

But I think the problem lies with the parents who put so much emphasis on sports because they think their child is going to be a star.

Ya well its about the dream i guess if we did not see our sports heros driving the nicest cars and having the nicest houses would we persue it so hard. I played D1 college basketball and when i first signed that scholarship i thought for sure i would play in the NBA. Thank God my scholarship allowed me to stay in school and get my degree even after my playing days were over.

I tottally dont agree! From any point of views this is a really bad decision! First from the black community it's unrespectfull and it would put a shame on their intelligence... and from the others, well it's surelly unfair. They already give them a lot of job avantage so....

You must be a billionaire if you think the neighborhood Tiger Woods and the William sisters grew up in are ghetto. Tiger Woods comes from an upper middle class family and the Williams sisters middle class. Neither is from the ghetto.

well there's the REAL but unuse defenition of ghetto: Community of race that live in the same area. I do like in an Italian ghetto... am I poor? not at all... there's no link. Poor ghetto is what was meant I think. But there isn't any thing offensive in ghetto. Tiger Woods and Serena comes from ghetto but not from a poor family

He was born in Cypress, California. Cypress is 3% Black, 20% Asian, 11% other and 66% White. So I guess you're saying he grew up in a white ghetto.

I do agree with your second comment....regarding that in the past ND has never had to worry abotu getting athletes....they had one bad season last year....Ty could turn it around if they give him a chance.
