Unhappy Is this the President you want?

    John Kerry on Defense
I hadn't seen this list printed until today.
It would make one helluva mailer if it were sent to voters.
He voted to kill the Bradley Fighting Vehicle
He voted to kill the M-1 Abrams Tank
He voted to kill every Aircraft carrier laid down from 1988
He voted to kill the Aegis anti aircraft system
He voted to Kill the F-15 strike eagle
He voted to Kill the Block 60 F-16
He voted to Kill the P-3 Orion upgrade
He voted to Kill the B-1
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the Patriot anti Missile system
He voted to Kill the FA-18
He voted to Kill the B-2
He voted to Kill the F117
In short, he voted to kill every military appropriation for the development and deployment of every weapons systems since 1988 to include the battle armor for our troops. With Kerry as president our Armed Forces will be made up of naked men running around with sticks and clubs.
He also voted to kill all anti terrorism activities of every Agency of the U.S. Government and to cut the funding of the FBI by 60%, to cut the funding for the CIA by 80%, and cut the funding for the NSA by 80%.
But then he voted to increase OUR funding for U.N operations by 800%!!!

Is THIS a President YOU want?

he probably did vote for the above, but who knows what the rest of the bill he was voting for looked like. thats the same reason he switched votes on that tax bill. the first time he voted on it it was good. the second time it was laced with a bunch of BS that wouldnt have been good for the country. now if each one of the above was a single bill with nothing else attached, and he voted agains all of that then yeah we have a problem. but bush still isnt the one we should want in there, if he stays another 4 years the USA will no longer be the super power of the world, it will become the country that the rest of the world hates and would love to destroy

i personally wish the general was still running, he would have been a good person in office

He sure as hell knew how to play his superiors, which I guess would benefit him in office. But personally, and in no way do I think others should think this way, but I don't trust any man who's been in the military, especially a full career, and is a democrat. Maybe his being an officer has something to do with it.

Oh, and you have a point about the bills. But in the end he still voted against ALL of those. Eventually you have to compromise eventually.

One of the things I would be curious to see is the dates of when he voted the way he did. You have to keep in mind that he has been in public office for almost two decades. A lot has changed over that period of time.
In addition, jcstomper has a good point, I would like to know what the rest of the bills looked like.
It is all part of political propaganda. Give part of the story that makes your candidate look good and the other look bad. Because let's face it, a majority of Americans vote based on newspaper headlines without knowing all the facts.

Holy propoganda. You're giving us 15% of the information and making false claims.

Saying that he voted to kill these weapons sytems and this would leave Americance defenceless is total BS. ie,

-the F15 has been through many incarnations... its first flight was in 1972... the F15E is simply an upgraded ground attack fighter - oh no! American doesnt have any planes capable of doing that! and BTW it was developed in 1987

-the M1 tank has been around since the early 80s, the uprgraded M1A1 began its production in 1985

    I could go on....

I guess Kerry didn't see the need for a constantly inflating military budget when the Cold War was winding down. Why dont you tell us what he DID vote on instead. Maybe social security or something like that?

I supported Bush at he outset of the war and would constantly argue with anti-war demonstrators (hippies as I called them) I don't anymore. I hate Bush.

Oh god that's silly. Do you realize how overequipped our military is compared to the rest of the world. That statment is ludicrous. We out arm everyone. We would only need to worry if several of the other world powers start fighting against us. I'm talking China + France + Japan or something. And it's not that odd that a democratic senator was voting against military inflation. Whom was president at the time of those votes? Possibly a republican militant spending way more than needed? We can speculate anything as we can with the first post of this thread.
Did you know that China just sent their first astronaut in to orbit a few weeks ago. He orbited a few times and came down. That's how far ahead we are. Spirit's pictures just came in from Mars. I'm gonna go take a look. www.space.com

Nice point. I guess you are a big Rumsfield fan. He says the same thing and is trying to make our military smaller faster and stronger. Then again we could just throw all of our weapons away until we are even with our next competitor which is probably China. I think they would love that idea.
Other countries onlyu understand and leave us alone because we are so much more powerful. As an american I sleep beter at night knowing this.

And I rest well knowing that we are that far ahead as well. My point was more that when you are this far ahead in the race, you can afford to skip a step or two. I'll tell you one thing you can't afford though. Bullying around multiple countries at once while simultaneously pissing off the rest of them. Couple that with spreading your military thin to dedicated projects that we can't leave behind and you have us at our weakest ever. In my opinion of course.

We are only bullying the Middle east. The other countries( france and Russia) are only upset because their money and oil pool is all dried up. If I believed the things that was spoon fed to me by the media, I would be scared also.

With Kerry Taxes as a whole would go up. However, one thing the Bush Admin will never come out and say is that a majority of the tax hike would go to those that benefited from Bush's 'Tax Cut'.

Those people being the top 5% in yearly earnings.

With Bush, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

How did health care come into this?... I'm not gonna get into a debate over those statements. All I said was that we were missing some serious facts and what this thread was trying to push.

You guys get all pissy cause I said that maybe Kerry favoured other things as opposed to more military spending. "Whos gonna defend us, Canada?" - real mature response, making it seem like I said scrap the whole military. The US is so stacked with arms that all the $$$$ increases it could do without. Its the equivalent of Ronnie Coleman doing the world biggest cycle and going up to 350lbs when he was good at 275.

He voted to kill the Bradley Fighting Vehicle
If you think this was a bad idea you should watch "The Pentagon Wars (1998)". It's a great movie based on the true story behind the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.

    From one of the reviews:

"It is the true story of the latter stages of development of the Bradley armoured vehicle which was featured in the Gulf War, and the Air Force officer, James Burton, whose task, by Congressional edict, was to sign off on the final testing of the vehicle. Without his approval the Bradley could not go into production.

The film is based on his book.

What he discovered was that the Bradley's design had evolved from a fast troop transport to a mish-mash of everything, making it unsuitable for each of its now numerous and contradictory roles.

Worse, however, was that the vehicle was an obvious death trap. If the paper-thin armour didn't get you, then the poisonous fumes would. And if they didn't do it, then the exploding of the vehicle's gas tank would finish off the job.

The army would not test the vehicle, except for those that they rigged--knowing full well what the results would be. Israel bought some, but seeing right off the bat that the vehicle as designed was a death trap, insisted on modifications.

So, there were two production lines: one for the Israeli version and one for the death trap US version: produced by its own country with the knowing enthusiasm and approval of military brass."

I completely agree. To take a bill and simplify it into 1 sentence is pretty tough to do, and alot of times there is a bunch of other crap in there that you both disagree and agree with, so obviously you would vote no.

why do you have to bring Candian health care into this spywizard? are u trying to piss the Canadian board members off, or what? Not trying to burn you bro, i just don't see why that is neccessary.....

IMHO I wouldnt want to live with American-style medical care, for which, citizens pay 13 per cent of their GDP (compared to Canada’s 9 per cent) that leaves 41 million people without coverage?

Just thought a Canadian should say something...But, you should really leave that stuff out of a forum that has nothing to do with Canada in the first place, and im sure it offends other Canadians on here.

I seem to recall the UN telling us pretty adamantly to NOT invade Iraq. Then we essentially said scr*w off and did it anyways because we absolutely had to liberate those helpless people. That' what I refer to by p*ssing off the rest of the world. I'm not sure what you're implying with the spoonfed comment so I won't remark.

I would say that the majority of us on this board are what the government would call "drug abusers," and as such, we are targets of their silly "War on Drugs."
Now . . . would anyone care to defend this particular government prority? Or defend the hundreds of billions of $$$ spent to imprison small-time bud dealers and users, so the law enforcement industry (like Wackenhut, who builds, staffs, and runs some prisons) can cash in on the extra $$$?
Just like AS, it makes all kinds of sense to make drugs available through a physician, and make addiction a medical issue to be treated in hospitals, instead of criminalizing addicts and throwing them in jail.
Back in the good ol' Clinton years, federal spending for this foolishness dropped considerably. With Bush, spending went back up. So now, chances of you or me being "inconvenienced" by the feds telling us what we can or cannot do with our own bodies is growing . . . and should Bush II get re-elected, you can bet it'll only get worse.

So, it seems to me that folks here who are concerned about about access to both "magic pills" and hassle-free medical care necessary to stretch our physical limits, would be less likely to vote for Bush. But what the heck, Germans in 1946 probably would have re-elected Adolph Hitler if it had been possible. People do not always vote in their own long-term best interests . . .

    I recall that too.

Also, France said that the US would let Hans Blix continue his search for 30 more days, then they would change their UN vote to go along with the war on Iraq. Bush replied that he would not wait because of the "imminant danger to the US" and the rest is history.

Bush has the worst foreign policy ever . . .

Fear is our governments driving force for controlling us. Anyone seen Bowling for Columbine? It's the first real mainstream look at this. It's a great movie.

funny that kerry touts his military career and all..

"In one well-documented episode, Kerry joined with other veterans, tossing their war medals onto the lawn of the Capitol. Kerry freely admitted the medals he threw were not his." -- CNN

Couple that with spreading your military thin to dedicated projects that we can't leave behind and you have us at our weakest ever. In my opinion of course.

if we were that far ahead of anything, we woudlnt have to fight a war, and until then, i want our soldiers to have the best equipment and as much as they need. being a vetran myself, and a infantry soldier, as well as ranger, i know how important every piece of gear you have, so unless you were in the military, i dont expect you to understand that.

Basic supplies for infantry and things of that sort I believe fall in to a different category. We're talking about war machines here. Things that are mostly upgrades on existing equipment that we already have for our soldiers. And yes, we are winning the arms race. We're in this war for reasons other than getting attacked if you didn't notice. It's not because we aren't ahead in the arms race and some country brought a war to us. It's because of the guy we had in charge of all those arms. He invaded them.

Do you even know what you are typing? Military of China+France+Japan???
Dude.....France and Japan dont even have a fvcking military.
I could go on but I think that about sums it up on this educated post I replied to.
