The USA stayed neutral and refused to join the war effort against the nazis until they no longer had a choice... by the time the US got involved, almost all of europe had fallen to the nazis and the UK was up the creek and Churchill was considering a surrender pact...

At this point the US had little choice... had the UK fallen, the nazis would have taken over the Royal Navy's fleet which at the time was the biggest in the world. Since that posed a severe threat to the US, they got involved.

A quick timeline...

Aug 12, 1938 - German military mobilizes.

March 15,1938 - Nazis take Czechoslovakia.

Sept 1, 1939 - Nazis invade Poland.

Sept 3, 1939 - Britain, France, Australia and New Zealand declare war on Germany.

Sept 5, 1939 - United States proclaims neutrality

Sept 10, 1939 - Canada declares war on Germany; Battle of the Atlantic begins.

April 9, 1940 - Nazis invade Denmark and Norway.

May 10, 1940 - Nazis invade France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands; Winston Churchill becomes British Prime Minister.

July 10, 1940 - Battle of Britain begins.

April 6, 1941 - Nazis invade Greece and Yugoslavia.

June 14, 1941 - United States freezes German and Italian assets in America.

July 12, 1941 - Mutual Assistance agreement between British and Soviets.

Dec 7, 1941 - Japanese bomb Pearl Harbor; Hitler issues the Night and Fog decree.

Dec 8, 1941 - United States and Britain declare war on Japan.

At least you have the first one... The war was started over something that didn't exsist. Now i'm not saying saddam should be in power because he shouldn't be, but for all the americans, brits, allies etc... who lost their lives in fighting a war the was unjust well then i have to say saddam really had the last laugh because like he used nerve gas on his own people, he still has his supporters killing americans almost everyday... and for the soilders as people they realize they are getting killed for no reason... because with no WMD there shouldn't be a war, and american lives and those of their allies shouldn't be in jeopardy everyday for no reason. That's just my two cents. This was meant for no disrespect to America or anyone else... Something to think about though.

Lend Lease Act...Eagle Squadrons...Mil. "Advisors" and "Subversion Groups" were hard work since 1939. Thousands of German American and Italian Americans sent over as "Spies" and reconnasaince personnel...the Govt did step back and let Europe fight its own battles for a few years..justifiably so, it just bailed them out a few years before with WWI afterall!!

lie or not, we killed two birds with one stone... 1. got that fuk outta there...2. secured oil interests. any man or woman that died for the cause of either, was watchin out for number 1, and is a hero in my book. noone died for a lie. all died for the states.

but palme I do know that poland was also neutral in the war. And your right we dont know what would have happened.
