aspirate: pull hard or easy!
i started to practice self injection with vit b12 (quad shoot!).
today will be the 3rd one (dosage is 1000 per 1ml).
continue to be confused about aspiratin before injecting.
some people say "if you are in a vein or other blood vassel" youll see it easely!
some other told me to aspirate and wait for "very little air bubbles" and then push the dart...
questions: isnt "air" dangerous to inject?
last shoot (2nd one ever) i pulled pulled and pulled till a "big" bubble came into the b12 solution. i think that air came from "outside" my thigh and that i pushed "too much" (i felt like i was fighting with t!).
so i decidet to repeat entire procedure and changed needle!!
IM CONFUSED!!! HELPLast edited by fabry; 05-15-2004 at 03:44 AM.

hey...
nothing personal man but are you a man or a mouse!? this post made me nauseated. j/k
just pull back a little on the syringe. if you're in a blood vessel the blood will easily enter the syringe in which case you withdraw it and try somewhere else. you CAN inject air (up to 30cc's) before you have to worry about complications. most people use syringes that hold only 3cc's!
now stick yourself!!

just joking about that
just joking about that.
i always shoot a little air in with each injection. i have pulled back before and gotten blood and it went into the syringe easily. you need to inject a lot of air before it can cause a problem. check out www.mdconsult.com. you can make a 10 day account for free.

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS CLOWN!!!
IF you are in a mucle you will get a vacum type feel in the syringe once you release the pluger the tiny bubles should go back in. DO NOT intentially inject air into yourself, it may not harm you but why chace it.

can you show me where it says that you can inject 30cc of air and be ok???
esspecially if you are in a vein???

just look it up man.... it takes a lot of air injected directly into a vein to cause a venous air embolism. you need to do some research before making any recommendations to people on this board. there's no point in spreading misinformation and scaring anyone who has ever injected a little air!

I looked at your link and it said you can inject 3ccs of air....I know this...30cc is a far cry from 3cc...i would like to see you inject 30cc of air.
I got an idea, post a video of you injecting 30cc into a vein.
what misinformation did i post???
I said "it may not harm you, but do not intentially do it."Last edited by damiongage; 05-15-2004 at 11:22 AM.

I don't know much about this but I don't think injecting air sounds safe at all! 30cc's!? I think you have been misinformed or you just misunderstood!

Im with Jade on this, injecting air, however much doesnt sound safe to me
Although, i thought when you inject
a ) put pin in
b ) aspire, if blood pull out
c ) if theres air bubbles it means theres a vacuum and its ok?
d ) inject?
Thats what i was under the err impression of is right to do:|

i had the same questions in my head when i first started a couple months ago. i was actually nervous for some reason to aspirate . i guess it seemed weird to be sticking a needle deep into my muscle and then sucking back w/ the syringe. but then i started doing it no problem. only one time did i ever get blood back. that's when you'll truly know what you're doing.
like everyone says, it is easy to pull back. you don't need to do it hard. what you do, is just put a little pressure on the plunger pulling it back. it really doesn't even need to move much and you'll either see a slight bubble or blood. when i saw blood, just a little bit came into the syringe right near the needle. it doesn't go into the actual syringe, but the neck part where the needle attaches.
if you see the blood, simply pull it out, change the needle, and stab somewhere else.
