    Supplemental Insulin/Pancreas Shutdown

It was the usual banter at the gym that spawned this question for the night. Does anybody have on-hand a study that proves or disproves that supplemental insulin will eventually shut down natural insulin provided by the pancreas.

As long as you're cycling insulin , this really isn't an issue. You could make a slight case for the opposite, since prolonged insulin use can lead to some degree of insulin resistance, which will result in elevated BG levels. Elevated BG levels will cause the pancreas to produce/release more insulin. the major concern with exogenous insulin is the potential for insulin resistance (type II diabetes), but this is not very likely with proper cycling.
