if your bf is around 7-9% you can get away with it. i prefer a longer needle to get as far into the muscle as possible and help with absorption.
If you have a fat ass it's to small.You'll be fine with other sites with a 1" pin.
i used 1" for glutes. 14% bf, and i'm a small doode with a small ass.
