A Glass of Wine a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

There have been countless threads asking if alcohol will affect gains on cycle. In moderation (1-2 glasses of red wine, twice a week) during your cycle, can red wine play a health benefit and actually help your cycle? The key here being in moderation and only red wine.


Various controlled studies have shown that red wine - when CONSUMED IN MODERATION - increases blood HDL, or good cholesterol, decreases LDL, or bad cholesterol, and even more importantly, discourages the formation of clots that can close off arteries and cause heart attacks or strokes.

No reason to limit it to only red wine. Numerous studies have shown the benefical effects of alcohol independent of the beverage consumed. All of the protective effects have been shown to be from ethanol, and not from any ingredient in specific types of alcoholic drinks.
