    The Prez Goes After Roids

    FYI

Legislation adds 18 to list of banned anabolic steroids
    Oct. 22, 2004
    SportsLine.com wire reports

WASHINGTON -- President Bush on Friday signed legislation that would curtail sales of steroid precursors and seek to stiffen penalties for offenses involving anabolic steroids .

The legislation adds 18 substances to the list of banned anabolic steroids, including androstenedione and tetrahydrogestrinone.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan said the law establishes a new grant program, which will provide $15 million to teach kids about the dangers of steroids.

It directs the U.S. Sentencing Commission to review the federal sentencing guidelines and consider amending those guidelines to provide for increased penalties.

When the legislation passed the Senate earlier this month and sent to the president, Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del., said the measure sends a message about these substances. "We are calling them what they really are: drugs," Biden said.

Congress took an increased interest in the issue this year after reports of steroid use among athletes, particularly professional baseball players. A federal grand jury in San Francisco has indicted four men on charges of illegally distributing steroids, including the personal trainer of Giants slugger Barry Bonds.

steroids are the last thing they need to be worried about. Worry about about why people are robbing, stilling, killing ......it aint related to steroids one bit.

If thats the case then why isnt Mexico full of men that look like professional wrestlers? Actually I noticed the local mexican population has almost no interest in taking steroids , its mostly American Tourists that buy the stuff there.

Why is it the only countries to outlaw Steroids is just a handful of English Speaking Countries? Its mostly only Australia, USA, UK, Canada, France and Norway that outlawed steroids and of this, personal possession of steroids I understand is not illegal in England and Australia.

Steroids are the only USA scheduled that the vast majority of the world doesnt see a problem with and they are OTC in 96% of the countries of the world. I think as Mexico's economy continues to develop, crime againsts tourists continues to drop in Mexico, we will see more freedom seeking Americans taking up second home residency in Mexico.

Hate to pop your bubble but Kerry has a 100% anti-steroid voting record in congress... he always voted to outlaw stuff and increase penalties.
