Nutritional value of Pigeon?
Not speaking of the average barn pigeon (The mostly white ones), but of the ones that fly down out of washington and oregon into california.
Went hunting for them the first time yesterday with the girls family and ate one for lunch..have to say, not bad. Any ideas what the nutritional value is?
Seems like a cheap way for some protein We ended up getting like 14 in roughly 2-3 hours.

Are you sure it wasn't dove, and not pigeon? I have never heard of anyone eating pigeon. Dove is very common though, and it tastes very good too. And by the way, all wild game is very lean meat, even boar (pigs).

I ususally feed my falcon quail versus pigeon due to many know diseases that are common in pigeons (especially in the CNS areas)... prolly something to do with them walking in their sh!t all day. According to my falcon's Vet, if you choose to eat the little guy - you can freeze it first to kill some potenetial bacteria... or you could be sure to cook him prior to eating

A few people (very very few) eat pigeon here.It is akin to chicken in texture and probably nutritional value.
Hmmm worth a try if it's free LOL

like i said, there are different types of pigeon. the normal pigeon that you would think of is certainly not the type you eat.
