    Sterilizing Gear ?

i read a post on here where a guy "sterilized" his questionable gear, I have an autoclave and some gear that is supposed to be good but in my mind looks a little shady.
So, can i sterilize my gear in an autoclave? (an autoclave is used to sterilize instruments in hospitals and dentist offices ect.) incase you dont know.
it has a liquid cycle on it, 135 degrees celcius for 20 min.
    ANY input would be nice.
and on another note, how do ppl "steralize" their gear if they dont use an autoclave?

Spend 4 bux on a syringe filter, and re-filter it.

no you would have to bake it and add some ba to kill bacteria.

my guess is you are a tattoo artist.
I might be wrong but I believe that might be a bit hot. you doint want to boil the gear.
I would heat it on the stove in a dish of water and refilter through a .45 whatman filter. if you are really worried about it you can add a little ba to it. but that could
increase injection pain. why do you suspect dirty gear? is ther floatys in it?

baking something doesnt kill everything, i used to sterilize for a living, an autoclave kills all, all bacteria, just wondering if it will hurt the deca ..
    alcohol doesnt kill everything either,
im surprised you didnt know that.
im not trying to be a dick, just surprised

this issue has been argued to death... about whether or not 135 C is hot enough, whether "wet" heat is seen by the oils.. if it'll make you feel better, autoclave it. Filtering with a .22 is usually enough.

the autoclave doesnt boil it it sterilizes it with pressure and steam. i did it to one it didnt crack or break , the rubber held up under the heat, im gonna do it to all UG lab gear, cause ya never know....

if your gear is in a sealed vial how is the pressure going to help you. the pressure in the vial will stay the same or the glass will crack or the ruber seal will leak.

the pressure in the vaccuum chamber sterilizes all that is inside, it has a liquid cycle on it, just for sterilizing fluids,

i use it to kill anything on a tattoo tube, doctors and dentists ude it to sterilize scalples and forceps, ect... so it should be good enough for my gear, and i looked closer at the gear and it has a couple of floaties in it, where do i get a filter, and how do i use it?

Lion has 'em at AR-R . You draw the gear into a syringe, attach filter and fresh needle - then inject into new sterile sealed vial.

For more detailed instructions, check out the Lab forum.

If you're going to use it, you need to vent the gear with a needle (the same type you inject with) otherwise, your stopper can lose integrity. Just because it didn't happen once, doesn't mean it will work every time.
