Just go for the muscle and you will be fine! Flex the ass cheek and all that hard stuff is muscle!!

You dont have to shoot in your ass....Theres plenty of other places...
Shoot you calves or have your buddy do it ...Tighten it up and you should be fine...
If you can squeeze it and get a good grip its usually not muscle

If you are doing glute shots, then injecting with a 1.5 inch needle is a 99% guarantee you are injecting in to muscle.

Depends on how fat you are, but about a little more than an inch.

I inject calves without problems, i think the pain most people get is just a matter of technique.

Unless you are really fat, if you used a 1-1/2" pin for a glute shot and went most of the way in, you got it in the muscle. The bubbles you see are not actually air... mostly just vaccuum. Notice when you release the plunger, the bubbles don't necessarily go out the needle... they disappear.
