    just upped my insurance

    quick question!

i just upped my life insurance and they told me that they are going to have to take a blood test and urine test from me. and i am on test prop right now. my question is should i take my last shot 3 days before so it is out of my system or do you guys think that they don't test for that. also i told them that i don't smoke which is true but i dip. do you think that they will test for nicotine in my blood or urine also.
    anyhelp appreciated

I think they are more likely to test for nicotine than test levels.

If you can stop long enough for it to be out of your system, I would quit for good.

    Google It!

I sell insurance. Nicotine stays in the blood for a year. yep a whole year sucks huh. Aslo they will not test for roids. But if you are taking a lot of orals your liver proteins will be raised that would effect the cost. you prob wouldnt get denied.

I thought that when you quit smoking the chemicals are out of your system in 5 days. In other words I've heard that when you try to quit after 5 days it's all a mental addiction.

Simster, your advice is almost 100% correct. I disagree with you on the nicotine though.

They are testing you for opiates, nicotine and other drugs, HIV and liver values that would indicate you are a drinker. THey are also checking your choleststeral levels to see how many indicators you have predisposing you for heart disease or stroke.

They check more deeply depending on the amount. If it is a half a million or so, they do not go very deeply. Mine was in the millions and they came and gave me EKG's and extensive background check, credit history and just about every doc I ever went to was contacted.

Your present cycle would not be detected as they do not test for gear unless it is on any medical history that you use it or some doc suspected use. However test does alter your HDL and LDL ratios in a bad way and that will show on the test as a bad thing for your health. Further, nicotine raises your blood pressure so make sure your BP is in normal range before your test.

What would be best is for you to quit dipping and try to get your exam in 90 days. That would give you enough time to get the nicotine completely out of your system and your BP to normalize. That would also give your body time to recover from your cycle and cholesteral levels to correct. Putting off the increase for a few months won't matter....that is unless you die of course.

A little off topic but a friend of mine is a union electrician. He smokes pot EVERY day and he managed to pass a random drug screening by drinking tons of water the day before and the morning of. I don't know if those test are flawed but he passed.

I own an insurance agency & have discussed this with a Doc. You should be fine after 30 days. The insurance companies have certain levels that they go by. Let's say your spouse smokes ( you don't ) & you are around her all the time, you are going to have nicotine in your system but it won't be over the levels they set for the test. BTW, I dip also. If you put it down for 30 days then just leave it alone for good. Good Luck.
