I'm assuming you mean modification or repression of the myostatin gene.
Myostatin is one protein that limits muscle growth. If one decreases myostatin concentrations, either by preventing transcription, removing/mutating the gene itself, or blocking the protein itself, he or she will find it much easier to build and maintain muscle mass. Any of these methods would be effective. In particular interest is blocking of transcription or translation. The host's DNA does not need to be changed, and it is more effective than simply blocking the protein, as high efficiency blockers are more difficult to synthesize than an RNA molecule that would inhibit transcription or translation of the protein.]
FYI. Genes are encoded in DNA. DNA is changed to RNA (transcription) and RNA is read and used to make proteins (translation).
