bro i had the same tricep problem....actually one doc told me it was a tricep tendonosis (a torn tendon) but others disagreed...
...basically...just drop your cals and do light cardio about 5 days a week
as for losing muscle...it sucks but its gonna happen...keep your diet good and hopefully youll minimize your losses (its 1 yr 6 mths later for me and im still having problems with my tricep...sometimes docs just cant figure it out...)

Who told you you coudlnt work out??? did u see a sports doctor or a specialist?? their opinions may differ.. as far as tendonitis the inflamation in the ligaments of your tricept..... many will argue that training will actually help your problem.....working out will not damage anything as long as u can stand the pain.......

I dont know how old you are,, but if i were you and the tears are minor i would not have surgury....no matter what ANYONE tells you anytime evasive surgery is performed it takes a very very long time to fully heal..... ive torn both ligaments in my wrist and opted not to have surgery instead worked through the pain kept it moderate ate as much as a could...your body will heal itself as far as tendonitis i dont even want to begin all the ligaments i have inflammed in my body

very true, often reducing extreme poundages, properly warming up, wearing elbow wraps and avoiding db extensions and skull crushers will work wonders.
