I'm tempted to ask why you didn't google this but anyway:

In physiology, corticosteroids are a class of steroid hormones that are produced in the adrenal cortex. Corticosteroids are involved in a wide range of physiologic systems such as stress response, immune response and regulation of inflammation, carbohydrate metabolism, protein catabolism, blood electrolyte levels, and behavior.

    In short...yes!

I was on a Prednisone (corticosteroid) drip and then weened off it with orals... about 4 years ago... my highest dose was 60mg IV. It was for a severe allergic reaction while overseas. Going back to the gym my strength was horrible, bodyfat went up and I was really shaky in all lifts. The only positive that came out of it was finally being cured of some shoulder and elbow pain. It raised cortisol levels, broke down proteins and increased appetite. Deffinitly not good for strength. If you need a strong anti-inflamatory drug for a condition - ask for nonsteroidal treatment options...
