Are you talking about finastride or proscar? Because if you are talking about the actual 5-alpha-reductase that is a function of the human body.

5AR is the enzyme that converts test to DHT
Finasteride & Dutasteride are compounds that lower the activity of 5AR (thus reducing DHT formation)
I guess these compounds are what you're after (for hairloss)

    first of all....thanks

I guess I read something wrong but I was under the impression that 5AR protected the prostate while not messing with muscle building properties of test???????

DHT can affect the prostate as well, making it swell. This swelling can cause the gland to press against the bladder causing urinary problems. Drugs called 5alpha-reductase inhibitors can prevent these symptoms without blocking testosterone’s anabolic effects.(16) Higher dosages of test can also negatively impact cholesterol, lowering HDL(17), constantly ignoring this can lead to a series of serious health problems down the road.

no - if you read the post it is 5AR inhibitors that it refers to, not 5AR itself
& yes 5AR inhibitors will help reduce any DHT (from test) mediated prostate swelling (BPH)
