    Metabolism and T3

Can a person take low doses of T3 for many months. Possibly even many years at a very low dose of say 25mcgs per day split into two doses of 12.5mcg per day and NOT shutdown their thyroid for good?

There are several studies which show that the Thyroid can not permanently be shut down after prolonged T3 use.
I'll see if i can dig them up bro

If you read thyroid function testing by mallet you should be able to determine if you could in fact take 12.5mcg in the am to help your thyroid without shuting down at all... If you take 25mcg you will be relying on that solely. If you are taking in conjunction with anabolics I would think a minimum of 50mcg would go above natural levels for desired effect... I like cycleons 5/45/50 taper method personaly.

Do some searches on cytomel , cynomel, thyroid tapering, thyroid function... Yes 25mcg is what they give people to compensate for lack of thyroid function, so yes it would shut natural production off, and as DW said not permenantly. Why only take what you produce? That is like saying will 150-200mg of test be good per week, the answer by the way is NO.

I took 25Mcg/D for only a few weeks and had some degree of shutdown. Wheni stopped, all i wanted to do for a week was lay down in bed. U must note, however, that i am very succeptible to that type of reaction (rebound) with drugs.

I feel you should pct the thyroid, You can do that with coleus forskolli, thyroid activator(or something with kelp iodine and black walnut hulls), and thyroid support with bovine thyroid/pituitary. Also carb load first three days after coming of T3. IMO

25 MCG's a day is what your body ends up producing normally anyhow.

No real benefit from letting exogenous substances do the work your body could do on it's own being that it's the same "dose".

Hmmm. I see what you are saying. But what about if I take GH at 4ius per day ED for the months of April until the end of September? My doc did say that if I were to double my GH dose, that for sure my metabolism will slow down just a bit.

So that is why I was wondering, what if I were to take 25mcgs of T3 ED during the 6 months that I am ON the 4ius of GH??? The other 6 months, I'll just stay on my prescribed dose of 1.8 ius.
