are certain steroids harder to be picked up in a drug test? (regardless of half life)

Yes. Half-life is really not a good indicator of how long a steroid will remain detectable in the body. For instance, oral winny has a short half-life, but it's metabolites can be detected in the blood stream months after the last dose.
