Has anyone ever used hydrogen peroxide to swab before injection or is alcohol a must?
yea thats what i use i think, brown bottle, lol, havent had an infection so it works w/e it is
oh ya im out of alcohol and ya i have the stuff in the brown bottle
my bro has used it worked fine!
just tryin to stay infection free
Yeah I've used it before when I ran out of alcohol. I didn't get an infection for what it is worth.
H2O2 is just as useful as a disinfectant is not more so.
It will also bleach your hair/teeth :)
I'd use it only if there was no way to get alcohol. No disrespect to anyone, but it simply is NOT as effective as alcohol. Not as penetrative. Takes longer to kill organisms on contact..........
Alcohol dissolves fat that holds dirt to the skin, and so it cleans the site better. THat is probably more important than the germ killing activity of either one. Alcohol is a solvent. Hydrogen peroxide is not, at least in the strength you will encounter in the pharmacy.

H2O2 oxidizes pathogens. It's as good for sterility.
It's also MUCH better to put a swab with H2O2 on the injection site after the injection because not only it provides sterility but also reduces bleeding (haemostatic) whereas alcohol promotes it.
I use alcohol before and H2O2 after.
Surgeons also use povidone iodine (betadine) on the operation site for almost complete sterile conditions.
i got a hole bunch of bottles of that h202 stuff from when i pierced my nipples maybe i should start using that stuff instead of smelling like rubbing alcohol when i walk around the gym
I also prefer H2O2...
