50 Year Old - First Cycle: Yes or No?
I'm thinking abut using gear for the first time, to get me over the
top of a plateau I've reached in adding lean body mass.
Stats
I'm 5'9" tall, 178 pounds, and 10 to 12% body fat on a 7 point caliper
measure. My Test levels are on the very low side, but still in the normal range. Lift every week for 2 years (after being off for 10 years) using 4 day cycle, and do cardio 3 times a week. My diet is very solid NO JUNK or alcohol (couldn't say that 2 years ago LOL). I run about 2,800 calories a day of a good mix, including 250 gr of protien.
I'm planning the following cycle (from legitimate sources):
Week 1-10 400mg of Test E
Week 11-12 300 and 200 of Test E
Week 1-12 .25mg Arimidex - Bloat bugs me
Nolva for PCT - but "at the ready day 1"
I'd bump my calories to 3,500-3,800/day, and watch it like a hawk.
I'd especially like to hear from the other "geriatirics" out there.
If I can retain 11-15 pounds of LBM I'll likely be happy forever. Anybody who thinks this is a piece of cake at age 50 be sure and show me your pictures
I realize I'm a little light on the Test based upon recommendations I see
for 500mg/week. But I'm a concerned about loosing my nuts or blowing up
my prostate In fact, I'm thinking I may go with a 8 or 10 week cycle just
to manage that....but that will wait until I'm underway.
Thoughts, concerns or advice? Bring 'em !

good cycle, being 50 years old you wont need as much test as some of the younger guys. I think youll be pleased with the results of this cycle.

Why not just go on a standard HRT protocol?I don't see the need for you to start a cycle at your age(even though it's young IMO).The HRT will help you retain your curent size,and for the first few months you'll grow a tiny bit since you'll be introducing a higher amount of Testosterone to your system.
Just suggesting though.You'll do well with the cycle you have planned above.Good luck on whatever you decide to do!!

I'm 45 so I guess I'm getting close to geriatric. I'm starting to like Lawrence Welk and I drive slower than I used to!
I think you'll be pretty happy with your cycle. I'd suggest not tapering down the test in the last week. IMHO it's just not necessary.
Taking some Saw Palmetto is always good for your prostate. You really should have a PSA and "digital" exam for prostate cancer as test/DHT can accelerate prostate cancer quite quickly.
I like taking 10mg nolva through a cycle because of the benefit to your cholesterol levels. You should check them before and during the cycle along with your BP. Watch your salt intake.
Having some HCG will really help your nuts if they start to atrophy. Proviron is always fun for the Mrs. and it helps with gains too!

well i'm not real old but older than alot of guys here...35 yo and did my first cycle at 25...and I can tell you i'll be doing it at 50 too!! That's a real good cycle, you'll see good gains from it, and Test only IMO is the way to go the first time out of the gate. Next cycle you do, and there will be a second once you see the gains from this one, add an oral to it. You'll be happy from this one, and it just goes to show...your never to old!! good luck and keep us posted!!

I am 48 and will be done with this cycle in 3 weeks. It was prop 700mg, EQ 600mg, tren 75mg ED which I did for the firsrt four months and now I am just on 550mg prop and 70 mg var everyday. This is my 5th or so cycle. My first one was when I was 30 and than I stopped the gear till I was 45 again. I say go for it. I am in the best shape as far as having dense muscle and strength than I ever have been before. I am 5'10", 205lbs and 12% body fat. At 48 I would say that is not bad. My gf loves it and when I am done with this one I will be off for 6 months, get blood work and probably do another one next year if all checks out. I will have gained 20 lbs off cycle of muscle in the last 2 years. And probably will still be doing cycles at 50. Good luck.

My cholesterol is "gold"...I'll test it at mid cycle though, just to make sure it isn't going bad.

Any opinions on the diet plan? Is 3500 sufficient?

Be sure you get your heart thoroughly checked out - EKG, stress test, etc. Also make sure your cholesterol is under control. AAS will aggravate any pre-exisiting cardiovascular problems - best to head them off early. For men the years between 50 and 65 are like the Bermuda Triangle - people go in, but they don't always come out....
