I think moderation is going to be the key. Alcohol is not on top of the diet plan for bodybuilders. I do not think the extra bad caleries will do you any good. JMO

if u decide to drink on cycle use your head... moderation and hydration... try drinking a bottle of water for every drink u have... if u drink enough to have a hangover the next day that's bad... u will feel like shit and training and diet etc will suffer as well as your liver....

alochol increases aromatase production and puts strain on the liver. It also impairs insulin sensitivity.

i do have a little drink on cycle but try not to over do it - only once a week
one thing i noticed is that for some reason i could handle more booze while on and would never get drunk
now that i am off cycle i'll drink the same amount and i'm hammered
anyone else experience this? or is it just my imagination

If I have too many drinks while on a lot of test - I'll retain a lot of water...
Aside from that, moderation is key - and being intoxicated at all will hinder gains. If your body is tied up filtering alcohol out of your blood - its deffinitly not going to help things...
I don't drink much at all these days... sometimes a Corona or two but haven't been drunk in a long time...

the biggest problem with alcohol is that it raises estrogen levels. i also dont like all the excess calories it has. so many times il wake up after a night of drinking, and wish that i had gotten the extra 4-5 thousand calories from oatmeal. regardless though, i like drinking too much to give it up completely

its scary - definitely am gonna cut down

I also remember reading somewhere that alcohol decreases protein synthesis.. Here is a quote I just found:
"..it appears that alcohol use inhibits muscular protein synthesis. In fact, this inhibitory effect of alcohol is most pronounced in fast muscle fibers, especially after prolonged use. The scenario would be detrimental for any athlete trying to gain muscle mass and strength through training. After all, isn't the goal of training to increase muscle protein synthesis.."
As to the facts on this statement, I am not sure. But it is enough to keep me away from drinking when I plan on cycling.
This particular blurb was pulled from:

i believe there is some truth to that: the more water you retain the better you can handle liquor.
